Dear all,

just spotted this during my usual eBay default searches :

Bolt chap

looks good to me with only a couple of days left. Boomers and parallel axis pickups plus ohsc. Plus i'm up in that area regularly on biz.

What do you think- worth having a bash?

Cheers,

Ben.

PS Jem do I want this? Help! Fact-me!

I would jump all over that one. Looks like it's a UK-ship only, so you might be able to get one of those "score of the year" deals!

Cheers mr M. keeping tabs on this one. And many thanks for the reply- I seem to have a skill for killing threads - stone dead! - now that's prob slight paranoia ;):P

I'll get some fresh threads posted!

1.6 US$ to the British Pound.

That means you could easily go up to L350 ($560) or even L400 ($640), even considering that big ding near the jack.

It's got great pickups, fairly rare color (at least, I'd never seen one before) and the boomers.

FWIW, it's a '90, not an '87 like the title states.

But it is a Custom.

Ben,

As you've seen, Chaps really don't go down well over here, i mean that one with the Sustaniac came in around the high sixes and went sub 400 quid (i think it went down around £350) and it still didn't go anywhere. What we have here would have been expensive in the day (this was when Trace Elliot were the distributors) and i think they booked at around £1300 plus the upcharge for the Erriedess'ish paint so it would have been a grand of anyone's money minimum when new. As an 'add to collection' you could well pick up a bargain but player wise you'll find it like driving a bus through cowshit compared to a Cali. At the end of the day if you can snag it cheap then why not, hell even though i've actually sold some of mine i've still been keeping an eye on it and may even grab it myself although i never even play either the short scale or the Sustaniac that i've already got ;)

Cheers all, I'll set a limit and get stuck in. Anything under about £400 or £450 might make sense but if it launches over that, I'd prob stick the cash towards something else that I'm more familiar with - an early 90's ebmm silhouette or some such (maybe a project or something I've never had before).

The game is afoot!

I bought a bolt on Chap like that one with the ebony fretboard, boomers and original case, from a fellow HFC'er a few months back for $650. Guitar George also has it. FWIW, that is a great guitar and the stock SD pickups are also great - I wouldn't change a thing. Good luck and I hope you score it.

It went for a bit more than I wanted to spend this time round - still a good price though. Anyone here nail it?

B

Nope, you said you were on it so i left it alone ;)

depends. i had a cali, and both the bob wilson chap (24.75") and my cent/chap mutt (25.5") play waaaay better.
