Nathan of Brainfertilizer Fame Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 If so, it looks pretty good to me at that price (or slightly higher.Thoughts?I haven't decided to bid or not yet, so I'm not claiming exclusivity if anyone else really wants it.I just like talking about cool old guitars, and Matsumoku has a pretty good reputation. I'm just not sure if this is actually a Matsumoku or not. My web research was inconclusive.
Lockbody Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 50% Positive FB? Can't say I'd bid at all.
Siaip Ciuvas Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 check feedbacks' details. all he's got this year is one negative
Rocktuna Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 50% positive feedback, I read the explanation but there's 2 sides to a story and his side sounds hostile. I'd be wary. Also I've never played a Hondo that didn't feel like a club
cmatthes Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 You're headed in the wrong direction, Nathan! Come back towards the light...
e-isle rock Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 My first guitar was a Hondo. It was cheap. I was detuning it oneday, started loosening the D string when the neck just splinteredin a hundred pieces. I couldn't believe it. My buddy with his BC Richwas laughing hysterically at me. The BC Rich was a cool guitar though.Of course my Hondo was no where near as nice as the one on this thread.
Nathan of Brainfertilizer Fame Posted November 25, 2009 Author Posted November 25, 2009 You're headed in the wrong direction, Nathan! Come back towards the light... Old Matsumokus are good deals on good guitars. This one reminded me of the Aria Thor Sound series...the TS-500 and TS-600 are amazing. But after thinking about this one, it is clear the resemblance is only superficial, and it isn't worth bidding on.

The neck was bent like a bow, (stupid and young I did not return it to the store), tuners were loose and rattly and the pickup feedbacked a lot. It was the worst guitar I have ever owned.
HoboMan Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 I had a cheap star shaped bolt-on neck Hondo back in the 80s. Bought it for $50. It had a Dimarzio SD at the bridge.I plugged it into my Marshall JMP stack and it KICKED BUTT. Sounded like Mick Mars on the first Crue album.
analogsystem Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 It went for $360. We've seen USA Studios and Specials going for $500.....I'd hold out.
