BruceM Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 Gotta blow my own horn, and hope that BTMN makes it over this weekend for his photo op at the 4-3-2-1. I'm hosting a party featuring two of my bands. I'll be playing bass in Robbie's new band, Famous Volcanoes, which includes Robbie's wife Toni on drums, and Robbie and Dave on guitar, with lots of cool original songs written by these guys. Lots of Hamers in action, since I've sold two guitars to Dave recently (T-51 & Studio GT). My other band, Escape Goats, will be performing their final gig at this party as well. All the locals are welcome. Come on over. Music starts at 8:30. Email for additional details: bemcbride4321 at hotmail dot com.
Cheap Chick Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 Oooh! I'm jealous of all the folks who get to go! Do yourself a favor and go see both bands - they are extra-super-good! Tell Go-Go-Goat I said "Safe travels" - big smooches to him!
BTMN Posted July 29, 2005 Posted July 29, 2005 I will be there with a camera in hand and maybe be brave enough to ask to hack a few guitar chords on someone's Orange Sparkle Standard. Seriously, look forward to meeting a few of the Minnesota chapter of the HFC. Anyone going to see Ted Nugent at the Ribfest in St. Paul Friday night?

Seriously, look forward to meeting a few of the Minnesota chapter of the HFC. Anyone going to see Ted Nugent at the Ribfest in St. Paul Friday night? Glad you're going to make it over, Gene! I don't know of anyone going to see Ted tonight. I've got a few friends headed over to the Turf Club in St. Paul, however, to attend friend Bob McCreedy's cd release party. Bob's a great songwriter, and hopefully I'll be able to talk him and his pedal steel player, Jimmy Johnson into attending my party on Saturday. If you're planning on going to see Ted, the Turf Club isn't too far away, and you could catch Bob's set.
kurtsstuff Posted July 29, 2005 Posted July 29, 2005 Am I the only one on this board that is 3,000 miles away from all the fun??
BruceM Posted July 29, 2005 Author Posted July 29, 2005 Am I the only one on this board that is 3,000 miles away from all the fun?? I never used to have ANY fun until I started hosting HFC jams. Fill up your basement (if you have one) with equipment, and invite a bunch of strangers over.
blackfbiv Posted July 29, 2005 Posted July 29, 2005 Am I the only one on this board that is 3,000 miles away from all the fun?? negative... Dion
BCR Greg Posted July 29, 2005 Posted July 29, 2005 Some time (when I have miles to burn), I'll make it out. We used up a shitload of miles dropping in on the first Midwest Jam, but they are building up....
Cheap Chick Posted July 29, 2005 Posted July 29, 2005 Anyone going to see Ted Nugent at the Ribfest in St. Paul Friday night? Watch out for broken off arrow tips in the ribs! Those things'll break a tooth, I hear.
cmatthes Posted July 30, 2005 Posted July 30, 2005 Gene: Grab that Standard and lay down a lil' "Livin' After Midnite" for me, willya?! Have fun guys - we'll want pics, of course.
BTMN Posted July 30, 2005 Posted July 30, 2005 "Grab that Standard and lay down a lil' "Livin' After Midnite" for me, willya?!" -Cmatthes Only if you dont tell them how bad I did at the HFC open house but that was only partially due to having to do my best Rob Halford in addition to competeing with the guitar masters Mr. Platzer and MR. Not Steve! Thanks for bailing me out on that one. Mineapolis is looking great this evening. Not to mention the Root beer colored 4A Flametop '92 Sunburst I REALLY shouldn't buy that I seen today. Maybe I wont need no Orange Sparkle Standard.
sirDaniel Posted July 30, 2005 Posted July 30, 2005 that orange sparkle standard is REALLY one cool guitar. For those of you far away that need the ultimate excuse to visit MSP, the MALL OF AMERICA is right around the corner from Bruce. What husband wouldn't score points by offering to take the wife/family on an excursion to the biggest mall in the world AND be able to dump daddy off at the same time? think about it..
eightyfour Posted July 30, 2005 Posted July 30, 2005 Next Friday 8/5, Dudley will be at The Last Day Saloon in San Francisco along with Roger Clyne & The Peacemakers. Sure love to see and meet some HFC'ers in my old home town. I will be sportin' a '78 Sunburst, which by itself may be more interesting than the player!?!If you haven't seen or heard of The Peacemakers, I would consider them probably one of the best live bands on the road today. Check 'em outwww.azpeacemakers.comwww.dudleymusic.com
edgar_allan_poe Posted July 30, 2005 Posted July 30, 2005 Next summer, I plan on making one of these. Bruce...D asks about you all the time. I hope all is well.
earachemyeye Posted July 30, 2005 Posted July 30, 2005 Well, I can't make this one . I'll miss hearing "Green Van", it's a great song. Look forward to seeing those pics. Have fun Gene! Joe
BTMN Posted July 31, 2005 Posted July 31, 2005 I had a decent time listening to the farewell of one band and the beginnings of another with BruceM the constant in the two tonight. Bruce was a great host. I really love the instant friends you can have from this place. Robbie, Eric Weston, and the other fellas there from the HFC, and not from here, greeted me like an old friend more than a stranger they had never met. THANKS guys!!! OOH, OOH, and I met the infamous Syd from Swirlygig fame!!! EricW. also tweaked the truss rod on "Chucky" my new(to me) '92 Sunburst. It's good to have trust. Maybe photos tomorrow but probably Monday night after I get home. Thanks again.
Eric Weston Posted July 31, 2005 Posted July 31, 2005 EricW. also tweaked the truss rod on "Chucky" my new(to me) '92 Sunburst. It's good to have trust. It had to be done!! lol. NO back-bowed necks allowed at Bruce's home of perfect guitars. It was great to meet ya Gene and I look forward to your next trip up this way (next time we gotta get some jammin' done).
BruceM Posted July 31, 2005 Author Posted July 31, 2005 <YAWN>Wow, another great night at the 4-3-2-1! I finally got the place cleaned up and into bed after 3:00, so I'm movin' a bit slow this morning.Highlights:It was great to meet Gene & his friend Eric, and to get acquainted with Chucky, Gene's new sunburst. Gene's right, meeting new HFC'ers really is like meeting old friends. I'm looking forward to seeing a few pix from last night. I was busy playing from 9 until 12:30, so I didn't even get my camera out. There should be a few good ones of the HFC'ers on the back porch.Escape Goats RULE! I have great fun with my cheesy little cover band, and I'm really going to miss Greg when he heads to Istanbul in a few weeks. You've gotta love a band that does a faithful rendition of Tammy's "Your Good Girl's Gonna Go Bad," with yours truely on lead vocals! Sid, Johnny and I will continue on however, with a name change. I like "SwirlyPigs," but I don't think it's gonna fly.Famous Volcanoes ROCK! Robbie & Dave have some very cool songs, and I love the singing, with all the 3-part harmonies. Perhaps someday, after I get my Cruise Bass under control, I'll be able to join in. And Toni, what can I say? This woman is a force of nature on drums. I'm looking forward to playing these songs in a nightclub soon.I got to wear my new Dime Box Band t-shirt! I missed you, Pam, and look forward to seeing you in a month!Late night attendees were rewarded with my best Marlee MacLeod impersonation. For those of you that don't know of Marlee, well, nevermind.... True fans understand. As always, it's good to see Eric Weston on a regular basis. I can't wait to see your new band, Eric. Missed you last night, Joe!BCR Greg and Poe! Glad to hear you're going to make it out here in the near future. I'm already plotting my next appearance on the East Coast... Say hi to my separated-at-birth twin, D, for me Poe! I've been in love with her ever since we both showed up for the Hamer Factory Tour sporting the same outfit and hair-do. It was like looking in a mirror! You had better bring her here when you come.
BCR Greg Posted July 31, 2005 Posted July 31, 2005 Seperated at birth? You know, Bruce, you are a FINE lookin' man.... But Dee is THE SHIZZZZZ.
Cheap Chick Posted July 31, 2005 Posted July 31, 2005 You neglected to say "Dime box Band shirt... designed by none other than shirt design artiste and drink-holder maker to the stars - Sid!"seriously folks, if you need some T-shirts done, design work, whatever, Sid is your gal!
BruceM Posted July 31, 2005 Author Posted July 31, 2005 You neglected to say "Dime box Band shirt... designed by none other than shirt design artiste and drink-holder maker to the stars - Sid!"seriously folks, if you need some T-shirts done, design work, whatever, Sid is your gal! You got that right, Pam...Sid is an extraordinary inventor and designer. Escape Goats call our Sid shirts "Tincher-wear." Last night, we all wore Tincher-wear for our EG performance. Greg wore his RockrGrl shirt, and the rest of us sported our Swirlygig shirts. Oh yeah, Sid's got some new Swirly-product, and the website's been redesigned. Check out the offerings at: http://www.swirlygig.com I Sidney Tincher!
BTMN Posted August 1, 2005 Posted August 1, 2005 The gathering..... More action shots after I get home tomorrow.
