bubs_42 Posted February 7, 2010 Posted February 7, 2010 I don't know whats up with this auction but this is the guita that was FS at Guitar Center Dec/Jan and it was marked at 799. I tallked with the Manager there but couldn't come up with the cash on the amount that we agreed on. I was suprised to see it come up on ebay but damn its over 1K and going.http://cgi.ebay.com/1996-USA-Hamer-Daytona...=item2c52eae55d
esquared Posted February 7, 2010 Posted February 7, 2010 I am surprised to see it that high also. There has been a bunch of clean Daytona's with $799 and $899 buy it now prices that have not sold? Are those pickups that good/expensive???
GaryT Posted February 7, 2010 Posted February 7, 2010 Ya I was looing at it and keeping an eye on it. Never seen one with 3-Lil-59's like that. I like the 59s too. Its a nice looking Daytona in nice shape. Somebody fell in love with it. I spoke to the owner. I don't know what the issue is with it. But he claims its not his thing and is looking for something else. I been keeping an eye out for a Alder Daytona. I was surprized to see that one jump up there like that. Its clean though.
holLoWskull Posted February 7, 2010 Posted February 7, 2010 It looks identical (and perhaps the same one) to the one that was selling in the Colonie, NY Guitar Center a few weeks ago for $699. If it is the same one (and I'm inclined to believe it is given the fact that the ebay seller is from NY), then the seller made out very well with the quick flip. Good to see (perhaps?) somebody make a little from buying/selling in this economy.
mirrorimij Posted February 7, 2010 Posted February 7, 2010 Nice guitar. FWIW, I think most of the later ones came with Schallers instead of Sperzels.
GaryT Posted February 7, 2010 Posted February 7, 2010 Yup sounds about right. Hey good luck to him. Someone is HOT on that Daytona, I have never seen a used daytona go that high. And I have seen some nice ones.I agree about the TMs. That just someone talking that owned a Hamer for 5-minutes.
esquared Posted February 7, 2010 Posted February 7, 2010 It wouldnt surprise me to see this one relisted.

esquared Posted February 7, 2010 Posted February 7, 2010 Probably have to eat my words as this one ends at over $1250!!!!! Brace for a bunch of Daytonas on eBay this week.
velorush Posted February 7, 2010 Posted February 7, 2010 It wouldnt surprise me to see this one relisted.Agreed (hope not for the seller, but it is a probability).

I was suprised to see it come up on ebay but damn its over 1K and going.http://cgi.ebay.com/1996-USA-Hamer-Daytona...=item2c52eae55dThe seller claims that it has factory installed jumbo frets and that it weighs 7lbs. Are these things alone enough to cause a bidding spike like that? $1256.00 ?????? I suspect shill bidding or something. I noticed that one of the bidders has (0) zero feedback. That is probably the sellers account. Both bidders that jacked the price up are most likely the seller himself. I'll bet my 1996 Black Alder Daytona with rw board & t/s guard that it is. It's one that WILL be hitting eBay this week.
esquared Posted February 7, 2010 Posted February 7, 2010 Does anyone know if there are any Daytonas (or t51/t62/vintage S) that have ebony fretboards????
mirrorimij Posted February 7, 2010 Posted February 7, 2010 Does anyone know if there are any Daytonas (or t51/t62/vintage S) that have ebony fretboards????I have seen a few Daytonas with ebony- they were custom ordered.
bubs_42 Posted February 7, 2010 Author Posted February 7, 2010 There was that one last year that was Red with the Ebony Board. Not many out there. I would like to have another Maple Neck'ed Daytona. I miss my Purple People Eater.
ArnieZ Posted February 7, 2010 Posted February 7, 2010 If anyone wants mine they can have it for $1000 It has Schallers also ArnieZ
esquared Posted February 7, 2010 Posted February 7, 2010 I really like the ebony boards but I also like the maple Daytona I have. I am having a tough time with the rosewood and even Pao boards I have or tried????
GaryT Posted February 8, 2010 Posted February 8, 2010 Be interesting what the next couple Daytonas go for. I believe the owner had a friend shill bidding also.
esquared Posted February 8, 2010 Posted February 8, 2010 There is 2 more listed now at 900 with buy it now for 1000. Same ones and price as last week?
BPF Posted February 8, 2010 Posted February 8, 2010 Those 2 were at 1k for a few months, dropped to 900 for about 2 listings. Probably saw how much the other one sold for and jacked the buy-it-now back to 1k...

It's one that WILL be hitting eBay this week.IF (I say if only because I can't remember the serial number of the one at Colonie GC) it's the same guitar as the GC one, then I had it in my hands and played it for a while. Nice guitar, pretty clean but the frets were no different size then the ones on my Daytona. Also it felt a little heavier than 7 lbs (though it was no boat anchor either). I didn't pull the pickguard (obviously), but the fact that the pickups had the Seymour Duncan logos on them (and IIRC Duncans were still logoless back in 1996) tends to make me believe the pickups weren't factory original either.
burningyen Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 Once again, a Hamer is bid up by 0-feedback Mr. i***3.
silentman Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 My daytona was custom ordered with ebony/6100 frets/Hot Rails and 2 vintage rails/birdseye maple neck. I wouldn't be selling for less than 1K if it were to go up for sale.
esquared Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 That is nice. I really like the look of the ebony and the birds eye. I bet it plays nice too!
