The Who at halftime

I also enjoyed seeing them. They were what they were then and are what they are now, which is still far ahead of most.

I missed it, but judging from the comments, I gather that they didn't pre-record it the way Prince did?

Wow, I don't remember Prince's show being canned at all. I'm pretty sensitive to lip-synch issues (for example, I think Daltrey's scream in WGFA last night probably was canned), but I remember Prince absolutely rocking out live during his halftime show.

Live to some extent, maybe.

Take it FWIW:

"The Super Bowl performances are all on tape," Neuberger said. "There is no way you can set up a full band in five minutes with microphones, get all the settings right, and expect to get quality sound. The Super Bowl has been doing that for years with virtually all the bands."

I thought the stage rig and lasers were cooler than the music. Although I agree Zak was tearing it up.

And if that was pre-recorded, someone needs to be fired.

I dunno, I kind of liked it. That lighted "stage floor" or what every it was, was great. Didn't look or sound pre-recorded to me. I do think that singing "Pin Ball Wizzard" and "Teenage Wasteland" (Baba O') is sort of lame when you are in your 60's. I think a little more timeless of a set would be good. Too many of Pete's windmills of course. Agree that Zak sounded right on....and if the show didn't have that drive, then I might be able to agree with the naysayers.

My real question is how many guys in their 50's and 60's ended up at the doctor today with shoulder injuries, due to tying to do too many air-guitar windmills along with the halftime show?

Rusty Shoulders (Diagnosis: Pete Townshenditis)

It was way better than Taylor Swift and Stevie Nicks. I really thought it was good. Not as good as the couple of tours I've seen tho'. But it is what it is.

It was Daltry and Towendsend but that was NOT the Who. A a teen I loved the Who because they embodied the messages they shared in the songs. They had credibility in those days. Watching a 70y/o Daltry sing "Teenage Wasteland" is like watching a 70y/o stripper. I would rather chew a piece of foil.

I don't know, but if someone shot Townshend and used the solo at the beginning of this clip as a defense, I might be inclined to acquit. :D

"If the riff is $hit, you must acquit."

:D Practically the same thing went through my mind as I posted that "If the solo sounds like shit, you must acquit"
