atquinn Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 Please keep me from buying this: http://cgi.ebay.com/1991-Hamer-USA-Centaur...Z260555413146QQ -Austin
Feynman Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 It's just a couple of clicks away...I assume if it had an ebony board it would already be on its way to you.
atquinn Posted February 18, 2010 Author Posted February 18, 2010 If I hadn't bought like 2 guitars in the past couple weeks it would be on it's way to me . And yes, an ebony fretboard would have made it an insta-buy. It's basically like the shredder version of my Vintage S, which I'm absolutely loving, so if it's still there by the time I get home tonight, I doubt I'll be able to resist it. - Austin
esquared Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 +1 on the ebony I had seen this also and was going to post a link... the link would not have been posted if it had ebony because it would have been gone, gone, gone. While we are at it there is also a sparkly centaura listed at half the price.on eBay
esquared Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 Well it is gonzo already!Saves your itchy finger Austin, unless it was you?
atquinn Posted February 18, 2010 Author Posted February 18, 2010 Well it is gonzo already! Saves your itchy finger Austin, unless it was you? Let's just say I'll be putting a couple guitars up on the block soon and leave it at that -Austin
esquared Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 So I guess we will see some new pics of this guitar soon, probably with different pickups and maybe different color hardware????
Citrus Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 8 bills is kinda steep for a Centaura, no?I guess it depends on what you are comparing it to? USA QUALITY ( not mass produced ) superstrat - what can you get for the same price??Seems like a lot of Hamers are increasing in resale valuegood for the sellers/bad for the buyers
esquared Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 I think the maple body is a big plus and the pickups are an upgrade.
atquinn Posted February 18, 2010 Author Posted February 18, 2010 8 bills is kinda steep for a Centaura, no? I don't believe I've ever seen a Centaura with a flame maple body. Plus it has a non-reverse headstock. Plus it already has a Duncan PATB1 in the bridge so that's one pickup I won't have to swap out . Plus it's in excellent condition. So, maybe a bit expensive, but hard to say, because I've literally never seen any other Centaura I can compare it to. After the Bing instant cashback, it costs the exact same price as my Vintage S, which ain't bad at all. Finally, the seller assuered me it plays like butter and has mojo out the ying-yang. You can't put a price on that! - Austin
BubbaVO Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 8 bills is kinda steep for a Centaura, no?I don't believe I've ever seen a Centaura with a flame maple body. That's soo sweet. You couldn't put together a warmouth partscaster of equal caliber for that could you? I think that was a great move. : )
Bennyboy-UK Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 I reckon that's a good value deal - showed my missus - she said"yeah that's pretty. Parallel axis? How much? ... Buy it"first time that's ever happened! Hope it's not the last!Get some pics up soon as you've fettled it!Cheers ! Top deal!Ben.
Hamerica Posted February 19, 2010 Posted February 19, 2010 I kinda of agree with Austin. The average Centaura would not bring 8 bills. I haven't seen many flame maple bodies. Plus all the extras he wanted were there. Hamerica 8 bills is kinda steep for a Centaura, no? I don't believe I've ever seen a Centaura with a flame maple body. Plus it has a non-reverse headstock. Jeff R Posted February 19, 2010 Posted February 19, 2010 I was work-firewalled until after Austin hit it. My first reaction was what a nice damn Centaura.FWIW, my blueburst ash Centaura 2HB with a Diablo profile neck sold on eBay for $850 IIRC about 2 or 3 years ago. 2HBs are pretty rare, but so is the one Austin snagged so there you go.Agreed on the Parallel Axis pickups. If it sounds like the Calis I had with PA pickups, I'd keep all three pu's in there just like it is.
