I'd be open to cash and a nice t-51F hamer with rosewood board. thats not really downsizing but lots of gear to go through. shoot me an email if you need pics. thanks

IIRC one of the songs was "Chinatown", but there was another that did not appear on any of their albums. Anybody know what that song was, and was this guitar used?

Yep - just the black LPCustom and a '60s Sunburst Strat.I do have a vague recollection of the Del Fuegos using a Miller guitar though.

I saw them in '83, and Van was using an Ibanez Studio.I understand that a Miller Music record was cut, and I'm wondering if the song, I can't place, was on that. Also perhaps he used this guitar on that cut.Inquiring minds want to know!
serial Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 The Miller Music Tour (86/87) was sponsored by Miller, Hamer, Fostex, Shure and something else. There was a Miller Music promo card in the case for one of mine and I had the old table tent from the Del Fuegos' gig at Baity's in Winston-Salem.I think the album came out in early 86, but I don't remember if the bands cut new tunes for it or did existing catalog tracks a la K-Tel.The new bassist they got for the lineup I saw had a red Roadstar bass. I'd listened to them prior, but they never toured where I could see them until then. They were a lot of fun live. The Miller Hamers are excellent guitars.

I dont recall a white strat, but I also did not do the entire tour with them.van was not a fan of hamer guitars , did not like the shape of this guitar, nor did he drink miller beer which he took issue with as often as possible being a southern gent bud guy.I used to laugh my ass off backstage as he'd be chain smoking and sucking down a bottle of bud... then during the show would "choke down" a cup of miller light to plug miller.he couldnt wait for those spots to end... thought it belittling to a degree..he says the guitar never saw action after the rfyl tour... it sat in his closet until he sent it to me.more trivia... van is a marshall guy, but nearly traded them in for sundown amps in '85... I spent nearly a whole day with him as he fought with himself over the decision... he really liked the light up spinning sundown thingy on those amps...in the end he stayed marshall, he's one of the few guys that can make a tele sound great through them...

serial Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 There were 100 or more of the Miller logo guitars, but only 20-25 of the Miller Genuine Draft models.I'll have to dig up pics, but mostly black LPC and yes, as BroChris says, a SB Strat. Never saw a Tele or the Miller-he mustve gotten sick of them by that point! These were NC shows.

I was in contact with wayne famous for a short time and was a regular on his site, not sure if its even up anymore but he's not posted on it for a couple years now , well last i was there anyway. a buddy from a h.s. band lives in n.c. and was asking me to fly down to see them back before the holidays.. van is not a big chatty guy... you see him.. you talk... otherwise, he's pretty much to himself...

polara Posted October 14, 2012 Posted October 14, 2012 I KNEW I'd seen this thread forever ago. Van was playing with an oldies band at Big Tex (a restaurant around the corner) last night. My drummer is a friend of his, so we went. His playing is very crisp, tight. Strat into a few Boss pedals into some 1-12 combo that had an oval logo and wings... maybe a Peavey.
