Jimbilly Posted March 9, 2005 Posted March 9, 2005 I played mine out last night, through the tech21 t-60. Those guitars sound good!, you haters are missing out! Strat tones through the neck and middle, and the bridge hum works great for overdrive. It's a keeper!
tobereeno Posted March 9, 2005 Posted March 9, 2005 it's the alder body - centauras just drip with mojo...
md2020 Posted March 9, 2005 Posted March 9, 2005 Anybody we know got this one?http://www.stevestevens.net/new/Lynn's8.jpg(sorry about the link -- the forum software doesn't like the filename)
Jeff R Posted March 9, 2005 Posted March 9, 2005 The favorite in my stable is somewhere between a typical Centaura and the one Steve's playing...
black magic Posted March 9, 2005 Posted March 9, 2005 The Centaura looks right at home with the Diablo pickup setup!! jack.
pesocaster Posted March 9, 2005 Posted March 9, 2005 I would have kept mine had I not already owned 4 other strat type guitars... great little guitars!
Michael_ Posted March 9, 2005 Posted March 9, 2005 I just put a Dimarzio Steve's Special in the red sparkle one I was trying to sell. I like it, very, very articulate pickup. Great guitar, doesn't get enough credit.
shred dog Posted March 9, 2005 Posted March 9, 2005 i dig my 3 !! i just got one from HAMSTD and it is a 1990 and it has a big fat thick neck and jumbo frets it's killer ! my other 2 have the typical medium thin necks one maple and one rosewood . nice single coil tones and crunchy humbucker tones in the bridge
shred dog Posted March 9, 2005 Posted March 9, 2005 JEFF R i love the 2 humbucker model you have i have only seen one other one i will have to grab one of those for my collection
MCChris Posted March 9, 2005 Posted March 9, 2005 A Centaura would have been my first Hamer but I could not deal with the flat neck radius. Terrible feel for me.
Samuello Posted March 9, 2005 Posted March 9, 2005 JEFF R i love the 2 humbucker model you have i have only seen one other one i will have to grab one of those for my collection Does anyone know how rare these 2 hum Centaura models are? Were they always custom orders? And what are the pick-ups? I know one that's for sale and it's quite cheap...should I get it?
black magic Posted March 10, 2005 Posted March 10, 2005 If you know where any USA Hamer is cheap, by all means buy it!! I don`t know what you meen by Cheap, but hell you may just love it. Jack.
Samuello Posted March 10, 2005 Posted March 10, 2005 Samuello; how cheap?, where is it???? Jimbilly: Sorry, but the guitar's in Finland And by cheap I mean price of course
serial Posted March 10, 2005 Posted March 10, 2005 The two hum version was not a custom order, that was an optional configuration. For some reason, it wasn't produced in nearly the numbers as the H/S/S one. The maple fingerboard was also an option you dont' see often. Oddly enough, most of the maple boards I've seen are on two humbucker Centauras.Fantastic guitars for the price.

I would not have wanted mineto be any other way than with singlecoils.Very versatile and great sounding!I could not justify having two Floyd Roseequipped guitars however, and I likethe SS2 a bit more. The feel of the neckis greater on the Centaura but the setneck SS2 has more sustain and tone. You would not think this guitar has a Floydon it.Disturber
Jimbilly Posted March 10, 2005 Author Posted March 10, 2005 The SSII's are so good they're just about in their own category. But not nearly as stratty for cleans to my ears.
