hardheartedbill Posted January 11, 2011 Posted January 11, 2011 hey guys , looking to turn this A7 into something I'll use more. I'm intersted in small tube amps, big neck electrics or a cool resonantor guitar ( roundneck please ) but who knows. this A7 is a player w/ many bumps and bruises but is 100% funcional and really a fine sounding axe, the neck is too small for me and it hangs weird on my frame so it's gotta go. One of 7 w/ the roland package and it includes all the roland stuff on the actual guitar, no cable or any other synth stuff comes w/. included half ass hard casehttp://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=3230...100001097460089
polara Posted January 11, 2011 Posted January 11, 2011 I have its twin: same year and finish. Bought it, frankly, 'cos it was cheap and included a cable which I immediately sold for almost $200. Guys, don't let the loads of knobs scare you off. It's a really versatile sounding guitar, pretty loud and resonant with all the wood cut away to house the synth gear. Mine actually has a pretty comfy round neck, not too small.
carfish7 Posted January 11, 2011 Posted January 11, 2011 Wish I could see it, but.......Facebook?Never!Z
hardheartedbill Posted January 11, 2011 Author Posted January 11, 2011 Hey give me a break this is all of the droid phone so facebook is a must And I just said that into the phone and it typed it out how cool is that
morningstar Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 I've got a third one like that... so make it Triplets. Got it from Peter. All the guts are still in, but some nitwit removed the wide hex Roland pickup. I have never had a cable or anything, but it's not heavy and is a monster player. So, if you like the look, go for it. It looks in decent shape (unlike mine which has a lot of hard won mojo).morningstar
zenmindbeginner Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 You guys have absolutely GOT to try these with a GR-300 floor unit. They track like a mofo with lightning speed! Pat Matheny out the ying yang.
polara Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 I had mine with a GR700 and didn't like the size of the unit or the tracking speed. And it won't WORK with a 300. Something wrong with mine, and it'd be a bugger to fix I fear...Someone buy HHBs guitar!
zenmindbeginner Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 Wow, mines kind of the opposite. My A7 works flawlessly with a GR-300 but tracks not as good as my GR-707 with the GR-700. Hell it won't even trigger the low E string with the GR-700 but does so just fine with the GR-300.There seems to be two different versions of the GK-1. One is an earlier version that works well with the 300 and a later version that works better with the 700. It's really down to voltage tolerances and each version is a bit different and needs a specific version of the internal guts in order to work.Like an idiot, I didn't try my GR-707 with my GR-300 just to see how well they worked together. Oops.I have an original 24 pin cable that is a bit weak but works. I also have a refurbished one that I got from Wayne Jones himself that works like a champ and is strong like ox.24 pins is just outright insanity. It's the equivalent of hooking up phone lines to a whole apartment building. lol!A 13 pin cable is bad enough, but 24 pins?Oh and by the way Bill, you're guitar is a BEAUTY and looks like it's in better shape than in your description!Has the GK pickup been tested?
ib2010 Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 Make it a quad-- i,ve got the 4th-- deep navy blue. ?? i used mine as strait guitar for abouth 2 years, very cool tones-- great player.
Burst82 Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 This is my first post. Hello all.I'm not a power user of Hamers but I have an 82 Sunburst that I acquired a couple years ago for the sole purpose of replacing the 79 I traded in for a crummy G&L in 81 only cuz it had a whammy. I still cringe when I think about it. Funny thing is I paid 385.00 for the 79 which was less than they cost then, but the one they had was damaged with a lil ding in the front, so I got it cheap. Scroll ahead 30 years. I scour Ebay for months looking for one that was affordable. I found one which I won for you guessed it...385.00. Why? Cuz someone really gouged up the front under the bridge. Coincidence? Of course it is. lol Just thought it was nifty. Now I'm in a Judas Priest tribute and I'm Glenn Tipton. You all know what that means. I was going to ask if someone here could send me a really accurate template of their Phantom so I could make a fake, but if Bill will sell me this one I wont has to. So I'm really in need of a 6 on a side Phantom of some kind or a really good trace of the body and headstock along with dimensions. Anyone?
BubbaVO Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 I like that guitar. What is the shape and neck thickness on that guitar?
hardheartedbill Posted January 13, 2011 Author Posted January 13, 2011 Did you get my pm?Yea too close to the a7I like that guitar. What is the shape and neck thickness on that guitar? It.kinda like a 60s SG thin from front to back bigger than ibanez but slim coompared to a vintage carve
morningstar Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 Bump for a kick ass A7These things are like a classic "skinny" Hamer USA early 80's profile, but scaled up. at 52 years old I have to have a less skimpy neck to avoid cramps in the thumb-base. The action is the smoothest I have felt on any guitar. Not the bendiest I have encountered, but perfectly suited to the unbending synth stuff, and equally useful for hard rock.. Tipton picked the right model. To me the reasons my A7 has mucho mojo are abundant;ly obvious. It don't need no stinking synth to rock yer balls off.Somebody buy the rig!!morningstar
