dboy66 Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 I now own it, but who knows the history of this awesome little checkerboard Special that looks so naughty and plays so (oh so) nice? Kiz? Poe? Uncle Greg?
dboy66 Posted January 14, 2011 Author Posted January 14, 2011 Indeed. That is a true statement and I can attest to that since I bought it from him. He was not familiar with its history however. Didnt know where the name came from, and thought that it had previously been owned by both Kizanski and Poe. Apparently purchased from BCR Greg around 2004. I'm just curious to know a bit more....
dboy66 Posted January 14, 2011 Author Posted January 14, 2011 refresher pics please.Headstock does not tell the story?
BTMN Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 Way I understand it, when you sent in your warranty card back in the day, you recieved a TRC with an engraving of choice. I have a Blitz with Clay on it but none of my other old Hamers have that from the original owner. I nicknamed my '81 Trans Amber Special, Amber. Yeah I know, DUH!!!
serial Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 Shoot me a full pic and the serial #, I'll see what I can dig up.
Scottcrud Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 refresher pics please.Headstock does not tell the story?Wouldn't mind seeing the body yo.
Steve Haynie Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 My Blitz bass had a truss rod cover that said "Joe." I traded it to a friend for the "blank" truss rod cover from his Blitz bass.

My old black Sunburst has a truss rod cover engraved with "JNT", obviously someones initials. The serial # is long gone so I have no idea about the guitar's provenance.... Hopefully, the real "JNT" will stand up some day and provide some insight. Hope you learn more about your Special!

dboy66 Posted January 17, 2011 Author Posted January 17, 2011 Sorry for the delay, but I worked all weekend. Here are the pics: Still trying to figure out this iphone camera. I dont know if its me the camera or my progressive lenses.
dboy66 Posted January 17, 2011 Author Posted January 17, 2011 I've never seen another factory white one, was this custom back in the day? Who else has owned this stroppy little sheila? Anyone know who named her? Thanks!
benjammin308 Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 My bandmate has one just like it, only his is way more abused. Rebecca looks great. Didn't the add with Johnny Ramone have a white one?
serial Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 Johnny had two white Sunburts and a later white Special. One or more had different pickups IIRC-a neck single coil maybe. It's been a while since I looked. The white Sunburst from '78 had no binding. He used one (I think with different pickups) on the Sha Na Na show.White was a standard offered opaque color, but you don't see many of them.
