I may have seen something similar. I had an issue watching videos on my laptop that would occasionally happen that would drive the CPU usage up to 100%. After installing FF 4.0 it happened 9x in 2 days. It's with IT now.

When the CPU usage spiked the video and audio would be erratic as well as other functions. Not sure if I had a more severe case than what you're experiencing or something totally different, but if IT figures it out I'll pass along the info on what they were able to do.

I was having problems with FF & YT...the audio was fine, but no video. UNLESS the YT vid was imbedded in a thread, I couldn't get the video.

(IE viewing on YT.com was a no go)

Seems to have sorted itself out in the last week. Can't recall if there was a FF update or not.

Are you running a Mac/OSX? If so, go to System Prefs, Energy Saver, and make sure Processor Performance is set to "Automatic." Worked for my old iBook, though I have to quit other apps so youtube can run properly.

No F4.0 problems noticed on 2 PC's.

Check if you have 'Remember History' selected in Tools/Options/Privacy.

That can effect video playback in 4.0 for some reason.

If that doesn't work uninstall Firefox and clean your registry with something like CCleaner in safe mode, and then reinstall. You won't lose your FF settings (add-on etc.), it will ask you during uninstall if you want to keep them.

I updated to 4 a wekk ago. I wish I had not.

You can uninstall 4 and then install an older version. Mozilla makes it hard to find, but the final version of 3 is still available on their site.
