hamerhead Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 Where can you find them for $199?I got mine from Willcutt, but Musician's Friend and Music123 had them as well. Music123 still has them on their site with free shipping.
Pieman Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 I found mine on Amazon. They threw in some extras. Ordered yesterday and they shipped yesterday. Hopefully there are no issues with the amp.Austin Bazaar Incorporated trading on Amazon.com as Austin Bazaar shipped the following item(s) ......
currypowder Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 Ordered from MF last week and received it yesterday. Unfortunately, there are a couple of issues with the amp, some hissing on startup and some rattling. But, I liked what I heard and am going to exchange it, but probably won't get the replacement until next week.
django49 Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 I did not realize before that Music 123 is part of Musician's Friend/Guitar Center. But it offered a better deal than it's 2 siblings.
django49 Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 Arrived today. Pretty amazing sound and versatility from such a small and inexpensive (on sale) box. I think I can cover a pretty healthy part of my main sounds by switching between the first channel and either a version of the "Bassman" or the second position of the "British" "voices". Should be even better with replacement 6v6s.Plan to make that little slanted stand to angle the sound up and also direct the waves from the open back to the front.......Most likely not until after making the other holiday gifts in the shop.It will not make me quit on some other amps that I love, but for something small and light "to go" for casual use, this works well......I appreciate the heads up on the prices.
hamerhead Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 Got mine today, too. Unfortunately it's at home and I'm still at work.Dammit.
hamerhead Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 But now I'm home and holy sh!t. I stress-tested the thing for about an hour. The last thing I said before unplugging the guitar was 'unbelievable'. It gets real sweet between 7 and 10, has the right amount of volume for our whiny 'it's-too-loud' drummer, and - I haven't tried it yet - I think it will play nice with the Motion Sound AR112 beneath it.I'm pretty sure it's going gigging Friday night. I'm blown away. Thanks for the tip, Mitch. If you were here right now and a girl I'd kiss you.

Here I thought I was the only person in the world with a Motion Sound......When I used it with (another) small amp live, it was a great addition to the sound.
Imiss85 Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 Thinking about picking one of these up, what will it give me that my TM 60 and a few pedals won't?
hamerhead Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 Thinking about picking one of these up, what will it give me that my TM 60 and a few pedals won't? Keep in mind I've had it 1 day, and I haven't owned a TM60 for 3 or 4 years (and that one is a 60W solid state 1x12 while the other is a 15W tube 1x10 ), but the 'voicing' knob really makes the XD. The effects would be better if you could tweak them, and a tuner woulda been nice, but the overall sound(s) are amazing from such a little amp. Plug straight in and you're good to go. I never got that from the TM60, which sounded good, but always seemed kinda sterile. I like the XD's 'feel' better. You can probably get the same out of your set-up, but the simplicity and versatility of the XD are tough to beat. Try one. I think you'd be surprised. You can always send it back or flip it.

Feynman Posted December 16, 2011 Author Posted December 16, 2011 Even Mrs. Feynman got in on the action with an early present for me. Yesterday she was sitting in the living room chatting with her mother while watching TV, and I was getting some very nice tone out of this thing right next door without bothering anyone. I'm a fan of these little amps - all credit to harry65 and Brooks for letting us in on their secrets. $199 is just a crazy price for something that sounds this good (IMHO).
