Recommend me a speaker

Question

My rotary speaker cab's in need of a speaker upgrade. Currently have an old alnico 10" in there out of an 60's Kalamazoo amp. While it sounds ok as is, it breaks up very easily, is not efficient at all (prolly degaussed over time) and is likely only good for about 15-20W tops.

Anyone suggest a relatively efficient 10" speaker in 4 or 8 ohms that can handle a little power (say 40W or more) and sound good in a Leslie?

TIA...

Funny you should mention those Tom - saw those Rajin' Cajuns and was wondering about them. On paper, they look like they could work and they're pretty reasonable too. Have you (or anyone else here, ftm) tried one out?

love them.

Made is USA

Best clones out there

I love WGS too Jay - have a Reaper 30 in a 1X12 cab that's the cat's nuggets. Only thing is, you have to special order a high powered 10" in 4 ohms - extra wait time and extra $$ (they were the first place I emailed, matter of fact  ). Pretty confident it'd be a great speaker tho'...

I've got an Eminence Lil Buddy 10" hemp coned, ceramic magnet speaker at 50 watts in my little Gibson GA5 Skylark and it took an overly bright amp that broke up way too easily and turned it into a smooth, organic round toned jazz monster that sounds great with pedals for breakup and rock and roll. Love me some hemp cone speakers.

Dr z z-10. Plenty of power handling there.

This guy is great!

I attended one of his seminars in Boston about two years ago.

Think he'd mind being holed up in a 24X24X16" cab for $100?

Yeah, I think he might.

But I guess it depends what the job pays.

I've tried both the Ragin' Cajun and the Copperhead in a Pro Junior I have. They're both great, very efficient, and bring out the best in the amp. It was pretty much a coin-toss, but I went with the Copperhead because of a smidge later breakup and more top end. I don't know how that equates to a rotating setup specifically, but that's my experience.

i believe the lil buddy is 100w (!); i had one but sold it to stike before i listened to it...

big emi fan here; the 12" man-o-war is my fave spkr. the copperhead is a good fenderish spkr, i used one for awhile. i will be getting a rajun cajun in a fender scxd from monocosis next week, i'll report back.
