tbonesullivan Posted December 2, 2012 Posted December 2, 2012 I would say just never put in an offer on something you don't want to buy. I don't like explorers/standards/etc. that body shape just doesn't do it for me at all. So, I'd never even bid on one, no matter how ridiculously low the price is.
DaveH Posted December 2, 2012 Posted December 2, 2012 The fret markers are off center. That's why you got it so cheap.
diablo175 Posted December 2, 2012 Posted December 2, 2012 Sadly, my wife was sitting right next to me. As it was, I was chided for supposedly "flirting" with her when I engaged her in a conversation about the proper ratio of tequila to mixer in margaritas. I also suppose it was not helpful that she insisted on mixing drinks right in front of me (we ate at the bar) which required that she lean froward, allowing numerous & prolonged glimpses of her healthy cleavage. Had to keep reminding myself, "your wife just bought you a sweet Cali LE!" Damn, I'm such a superficial bastard... Non sequitor warning- just had a good mexican meal where the bar tender chick looked a LOT like the GIF chick in your sig, Brent. Mmmm. So, of course you whipped out you smartphone, pulled up the HFC site (is it optimized for smartphones?), and asked her; "hey, I'm a big fan of your work, can I have an autograph"?, right?

Ting Ho Dung Posted December 2, 2012 Posted December 2, 2012 Damn, that chick has some beautiful toes. The guitar looks good too.
gorch Posted December 2, 2012 Posted December 2, 2012 That's a great score. This is what I meant on moving your body to pic up a bargain in another thread. Bid with confidence.
Brentrocks Posted December 3, 2012 Author Posted December 3, 2012 Yup... "Well, if I could get for that I would..." and then you find out you bought a $1500 hot rod engine part for $300 when you do not own a car in which to install the part. Bargain hunting on eBay can be hazardous. My Fender Tone-Master was bought that way. It was a good amp, but not the expense I needed at the time. It would be nice to have another one day. By, the way... I just bought a hippy jacket this week by putting in what I thought was a low ball bid. It better fit.what is a hippie jacket? im only 40?
cmatthes Posted December 16, 2012 Posted December 16, 2012 What price will you sell it for?Apparently, $2,200!!Not a bad flip from the $1,400 purchase price!
vortexx Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 I made a lowball offer on a Burns (pre baldwin) guitar that someone stripped the finish off. I expected not to have the offer accepted but the seller went for it. I generally don't like refinished guitars unless it's a pro job. This one was amateurishly painted with clear. It was just $700.00 which is a good price for the early Burns guitars. I mainly was curious to hear what the vintage pickups sounded like. I received it last week but I haven't even opened the box yet as I'm not really excited about it. The seller was originally asking for $900. so it was a good deal but I should have waited and paid a bit more for one with an original finish.
Crimsontider Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 Hamer's sound within a model is more consitant than with Gibson or Fender. Maybe it's the shop approach, but I feel safe buying them without playing them. I wouldn't do that with a 70's stratocaster for instance. The Color can vary greatly.
