Nathan of Brainfertilizer Fame Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 I have a Crate G120C XL.It has two channels, chorus, and reverb. One knob is missing, and the chorus knob stem is broken off, but still turns/works...you just have to be careful to turn the stub.It is probably too heavy to ship.It isn't even attracting best offers at $70 on Criagslist. Is it really that hard to sell a fully functioning 100W 2x12 amp for just $50?
MCChris Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 For that price, better to throw it off a tall building.
Nathan of Brainfertilizer Fame Posted April 17, 2013 Author Posted April 17, 2013 It's a gig-able amp.If it comes to it, I guess I'll see if a Pawn Shop will give me $10.It just seems sad...
MCChris Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 Sad would be to never experience the level of laughter that's only possible when doing something like this:http://youtu.be/4naX-PdtaTI?t=35s
murkat Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 then why get rid of it? Keep it. Rock the piss out of it
Nathan of Brainfertilizer Fame Posted April 17, 2013 Author Posted April 17, 2013 No room. My wife is getting on me about the clutter.I have a AxSys 212 and a Spider 3 2x10 that I like better.
Bobby Marshall Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 Donate it to a charity that you like or find one in your area to support. Win, win. If you already have itemized deductions, the donation can reduce your taxable income for the thrift shop value which is typically 20-25% of what the new price was (as estimated by you!).
Nathan of Brainfertilizer Fame Posted April 17, 2013 Author Posted April 17, 2013 This thing would be perfect for the Island of Misfit Toys....and I bet I could probably get more for each Celestion Speaker than I could get trying to sell the thing as a whole.
mail4kev Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 If you really want some money for it, your best bet would be to part it out.But you'd probably feel better about yourself if you gave it away to a school or charity project.

Sell the Celestions, donate the amp to a charitable thrift shop. Leave the gun, take the canoli.

hamerhead Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 A church, school, St. Vinnie's, Goodwill - all would appreciate the donation. My wife's church was thrilled to get a guitar after theirs was stolen.Or give it to some kid just learning. I mean, who of us wouldn't have been ecstatic to get a free amp - any amp - when we were first starting out? A local music store might know of some little bast.... youngster.......who could use a good amp. Worth a shot.

They can truely identify garbage from good.
FrankieIII Posted April 18, 2013 Posted April 18, 2013 Write a song for your wife and play it through that amp and she will let you keep it...
Carl.B Posted April 18, 2013 Posted April 18, 2013 Donate it to school, with all the music programs getting cut every little bit helps. I would think about a Jr High School as those are the kids most likely not to have a amp that is large enough to be heard at band concerts or even band practice. I remember at my son's school everyone used my son's bass amp a Line 6 LD300 because all anyone else had was the little Fender rumble practice amp. Carl B.

Nathan of Brainfertilizer Fame Posted April 19, 2013 Author Posted April 19, 2013 These are all good thoughts.Thanks.
Brooks Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 throw it on CL and offer it up for trade, list non musical trades (DVDs, books, ipods, etc) that you'd consider.
