wyldbil Posted November 4, 2005 Posted November 4, 2005 On a clear day you can smell the baloney frying miles away...
wgarces Posted November 4, 2005 Posted November 4, 2005 For what it's worth, I have filed a complaint with Ebay. Maybe it would come to their attention quicker if complaints were more prevalent, so I might suggest more of us (with Ebay accounts) do the same. It's a shame we can't warn the high bidder so they can retract their bid. Granted it is a nice guitar, but I'd hate to see someone get riped off.If I didn't live so far away, I'd buy it just to go to Atlanta and shove it up his ass. With f-ing pleasure.
Bob P Posted November 4, 2005 Posted November 4, 2005 Well this guy cancelled my bid of $1000- didn't even leave an explanation. Must be tough trying to run an auction when you can't tell whose bid is real and whose is fake.POS, I mean SOS- if you are reading this you know you are just trying to scam people. How in the world did you get that good feedback history?
Nuclear Wessel Posted November 4, 2005 Posted November 4, 2005 I don't know how, but I have heard of other E Bay scammers being able to obtain a bunch of fake good feedbacks.Bidding was up to $649 last night, now it's back down to $510 as of morning of 11-4. Did someone believe his description, bid, and then look at the pics? Or was that your bid, Bob P? No tellin' what's goin' on!
Bob P Posted November 4, 2005 Posted November 4, 2005 Nuclear Weasel, That was my bid last night. It was cancelled this morning which brought the price back down. I was trying to "take one for the team" so to speak. I figured if I was the high bidder at least no one could get scammed. Probably would have cost me some negative feedback but would have been worth it.
Nuclear Wessel Posted November 4, 2005 Posted November 4, 2005 You guys be my guest. I've got my bucket of popcorn, but I'm staying the hell away from that guitar.
kizanski Posted November 4, 2005 Posted November 4, 2005 "Granted it is a nice guitar...." Huh? That's as far off as his description - hahahaha
Nuclear Wessel Posted November 4, 2005 Posted November 4, 2005 Bidding is down to $415! Late morning 11/4. Below the reserve again. This is fun to watch.
Bob P Posted November 4, 2005 Posted November 4, 2005 Looks like he cancelled another bid....LOL. He also blocked my eBay account from bidding again. Too bad. At this point we know the reserve is about $650. How can he possibly let this run it's course without knowing which bids are real and which are fake.Damn and I really wanted that rare pre serial number Hamer......
DavidE Posted November 4, 2005 Posted November 4, 2005 "Granted it is a nice guitar...." Huh? That's as far off as his description - hahahaha Actually, I thought it would be a cool player.
Nuclear Wessel Posted November 4, 2005 Posted November 4, 2005 Here's your chance David. The price is down to $153. I've never seen the price on an item drop like this. (Munching popcorn)
hamerhead Posted November 4, 2005 Posted November 4, 2005 Aaawwwe...he pulled it. Check the bid history. Now that's funny! "I'm tellin' mom!!"
Bob P Posted November 4, 2005 Posted November 4, 2005 Sea of Strings, If you are reading this (and we know you are) how about we all come to an agreement......You change your eBay ad to reflect what you REALLY are offering (in other words- a refinned, Kahlered guitar which is still a great instrument) and we all agree to lay off the shill bidding. You have cancelled too many bids and have had too many complaints logged against you for eBay to care. The way I see it you can come clean and get fair market value, continue to be hardheaded and get nothing, or luck out and sell it out of your pawn shop. The choice is yours but I will be the first to say that I will refrain from any tactics if you come clean in the ad- I am sure others will follow.Choice is yours- we are not bad people or out to get anyone - we just look out for our own.
anotherfreak2 Posted November 4, 2005 Posted November 4, 2005 It's kind of funny that Ebay tells you the auction has stopped but that another auction just like this one has been relisted dosen't really help him to get away does it ?
Bob P Posted November 4, 2005 Posted November 4, 2005 Damn, he must have pulled it while I was typing my last response.DING DONG THE WITCH IS DEAD!!!Good luck selling it on the internet until you come clean.
MCChris Posted November 4, 2005 Posted November 4, 2005 Looks like SOS has officially been kongfucked into the THRONE OF HUMILIATION!
BCR Greg Posted November 4, 2005 Posted November 4, 2005 Don't be fooled by cheap imitations that don't align your sub's mouth precisely........Ick.
jujisque Posted November 4, 2005 Posted November 4, 2005 It's back.Eight hundred dollars!? Wow . . . . That's more than I could probably get for my Phantom Custom
wyldbil Posted November 5, 2005 Posted November 5, 2005 So Atlanta is about 200 miles south of me. Funny, with the prevailing northerly wind, I can truly smell the baloney fryin'!So really guys- given the stripped finish and retrofitted Kahler, is that about a $250-$300 guitar?
Bob P Posted November 5, 2005 Posted November 5, 2005 At that price I don't think any further intervention from us is needed!
wgarces Posted November 5, 2005 Posted November 5, 2005 At that price I don't think any further intervention from us is needed! I'm hoping someone does some homework before they buy the guitar. Hey Kiz, It's really not a bad guitar. That throne of Humiliation is hysterical! Well, I'm going to keep complaining to Ebay. The squeaky wheel gets the grease. And Bob P, you're on the money dude!
mutronboy Posted November 6, 2005 Posted November 6, 2005 Wow !! I just picked this up off eBay !! It's a rare 'pre-signature' headless Phantom...one of a kind!! I don't even care that it's got no bits....it's so rare!! A steal at $875 !! BTW Greg...I still haven't forgotten about the bits..I've just been totally skint... Cheers...& thanks for the funny thread..heh
Bob P Posted November 6, 2005 Posted November 6, 2005 Sea of Strings, Shill bidding took place on your Phantom auction because you were clearly misrepresenting the item offered. Several people here politely tried to steer you in the right direction and you ignored their advice. However the item I have on eBay is exactly as described so all you are proving by shill bidding on my auction is that you really are a complete asshole.I have been a member of the forum for many years (almost since the beginning) and have done MANY deals with long term respected members here. In short I think my reputation speaks for itself.I will pull my $25 item (which you bid $475 on) before I let you win. BTW, what would your fees be if someone accidentally hit the BIN on that bogus auction of yours?Bob P
