Tres Aardvarks Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 Made the mistake of reading the Talladega GAS post, clicked through to Wilcutt and then found THIS...instant lust, even with that Bigsby. I can only attribute my lust for it to watching too much Nashville (the TV show), listening to country and rockabilly, and not owning a single electric without a Floyd....urgh!!!!! http://willcuttguitars.com/hamer/view-all/hamer-monaco-iii-limited-edition-grand-ole-opry-80th-anniversary-shiraz-red-931-1
velorush Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 I did exactly the same thing, only with the opposite reaction: I'd want a too-significant-to-be-realistic discount to buy that guitar with all that Grand Ole Opry business all over it. Just not my thing. At all.
Tres Aardvarks Posted August 30, 2013 Author Posted August 30, 2013 I could live without the Opry stuff on it...I like the star inlays. Mostly it was the body and the triple P-90s that did it for me. (I'd probably have to hide all that Opry stuff on the headstock)
Brooks Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 monacosis has a sweetie like that (but upgraded pups).
Disturber Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 I think that Opry stuff is super koool. There was one for sale in Switzerland about a year ago. I missed out on it.However, I think that Santa Claus is polishing, and boxing up, a very nice Monaco III for me. I can hear the sleigh bells ring already. Christmas time will be MIII time for sure.
velorush Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 For me, this was the MIII that threw me over the edge: I should have sold a couple of guitars and just bought the thing!
Carl.B Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 For me, this was the MIII that threw me over the edge: I should have sold a couple of guitars and just bought the thing! Dumb Ass! ( Meant in the HFC spirit)
gorch Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 You guys don't forget to mention the Newport. It's a killer guitar too. Actually it destroyed my MIII GAS. That's a fact.

zorrow Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 This is one is not a Monaco III, but it got me anyway bumping my head against the wall, because I arrived just too late and at the price it was sold (1.1K) it was a steal: P.E.R.F.E.C.T. (Perfect Example of Rocking & F*cking Extraordinary Comping Tool)
