aknapp Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 With the nasty weather making its way through the Midwest today, just wondering if everyone affected is OK.Tornadoes through central-to-NE Illinois today, big storms rolling through Michigan and Indiana now.Wind on the backside of the storm is picking up big time - it blew the glasses off my face!Stay safe!
tomteriffic Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 Still rolling through here. So far so good. Noisy and not pretty, but OK
LordOfTheThighs Posted November 18, 2013 Posted November 18, 2013 We had a tornado warning here, just east of Cincinnati. Not sure if one touched down, but the weathermen could see the rotation on radar. Wifey and I went to the basement.
stobro Posted November 18, 2013 Posted November 18, 2013 Has anyone heard from bubs_42? It looks like Washington IL took a direct hit.http://abcnews.go.com/US/deadly-illinois-tornadoes-storms-damage-homes/story?id=20920739
hamerhead Posted November 18, 2013 Posted November 18, 2013 Just talked to Shawn (bubs). Near miss but they are all OK. He said it dropped right on the most populated part of town (about 3 miles from his house), and it's a miracle more weren't hurt. They are without power at the moment so he might be offline for a bit, but they are OK.That was too damn close.Edit to add this link to pictures. Damn that's bad.http://darkroom.baltimoresun.com/2013/11/tornado-devastates-washington-il/
carfish7 Posted November 18, 2013 Posted November 18, 2013 Wow. Tornadoes are no joke. I often kid my wife (who is from San Fran) that at least she will never have to worry about an earthquake here, but we DO get tornadoes in MN.I'm beginning to think I'd rathe take my chances with the earthquakes.....
AdmiralB Posted November 18, 2013 Posted November 18, 2013 I lost a tree (Bradford Pear, so no great loss) and some shingles. I watched my neighbors' giant trampoline go sailing off to who knows where.
bubs_42 Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 Sorry Guys I missed this thread. I posted in the OC about Washington,IL Tornado. It didn't seem real until today I was able to view the scene closer with a drive along the perimeter route. So many have come so far to help dig and sort. The kids I hope will be in daycare tomorrow and I am going back to work to check in. If things are going smooth I may take another day off and help clean and sort as a volunteer.
