Uh,Jaberwock, what are you doing there? Checking the finish with a linen tester? That's what I call accuracy...

My good friend Randy, fascinated by the process wanted to try scraping the binding, the magnifying glass may have been a little overcautious, but he did great job.

We should all have such friends. Volunteering for detail work AND taking it seriously? That's what win-win was supposed to mean...

Well she's finished, I must admit apart from the crack on the neck tenon, this turned out better than I could have imagined; looks, sounds, and plays really, really well, LP3_zpsc694ff09.jpgand at 8.2 pounds I can play this all night with no neck, or back fatigue.

Thanks to Murkat for his expert advice on fixing the neck tenon crack Jaberwock

Excellent - looks awesome!

How much time into the project, start to finish would you say? An enjoyable experience overall and would you tackle another one?

Damn that's nice. Love the color.

Well done!

Agreed. The burst is much more gradual than most - I like it!

Difficult to say how many hours, it was done mainly on weekends, and evenings; reshaping the headstock took some time, but the original was horrible and would have ruined the appearance of the whole guitar, the rest was gluing the neck joint, sanding and finishing, the later being fairly time consuming if you want a nice end result.

The wiring was more difficult than I anticipated, but I did put in a phase switch, and series parallel pull, push pot ( the out of phase setting sounds great )

It was overall fairly enjoyable, I got pretty good at spraying lacquer from a spray can; I'd do a Non reverse Firebird if they had a kit for it, but I'd probably wait six months to regain some enthusiasm.

This was my first set neck guitar, first sunburst finish, and I'm really happy with the way it turned out.

I do find myself when doing odd jobs around the house, being drawn into my studio room, just to gaze at it for thirty seconds, and think how pretty she looks.

Fantastic, Great job! I really like the color. I envy people that can wood work and spray a finish on a guitar. Anything other than framing 2 x 4 walls I better not attempt.
