cynic Posted June 29, 2014 Posted June 29, 2014 "I believe the Kahler is Original , but it might have been added"
aknapp Posted June 29, 2014 Posted June 29, 2014 Funny...every time I see a Prototype, I think of Bubs now.....
ARM OF HAMER Posted June 29, 2014 Posted June 29, 2014 "I believe the Kahler is Original, but it might have been added"......................ah................... it HAS been added..............and NOT by Hamer.
Victor (Fret Friend) Posted June 29, 2014 Posted June 29, 2014 I think he meant 'it's an original Kahler' and that he didn't mean it's original to the guitar! He's just doesn't have brilliant language skills and there's nothing wrong with that. To hear me speak in my broad Nottingham accent would have you lot across the pond agog with disbelief for weeks
aknapp Posted June 29, 2014 Posted June 29, 2014 ...agog with disbelief for weeks Agog? Silly Brits....
kizanski Posted June 29, 2014 Posted June 29, 2014 Anyone looking for a project? Kryptonite.... Perfect Project Project? At $600? You'll spend twice as much after that and still never get it to look half as good as the one I'm selling for $1000. Either that or you're both being sarcastic and I'm dense.

If your looking for an unbroken clean slate with a Whammy it is a decent deal.
svl Posted June 29, 2014 Posted June 29, 2014 With a project do any of us really look at the final cost before we jump in? My fave guitar at the moment (which was a project) has cost me more than $2k, and I couldn't sell it for $1k I'm sure. BUT it's a mother fucker, and exactly what I want in an axe.Even though they both start with G, there's a vast difference between guitarist and genius.... particularly when it comes to finance.

Speak for yourself.I'm not talking about resale - we already know that's a lost battle. I'm talking about what the cost of the project will be.You already know that the modifications are going to be expensive, so why overpay for the canvas?
cmatthes Posted June 29, 2014 Posted June 29, 2014 It would be more cost effective to start with a few mahogany boards.

I was looking at the "best offer" option. Now $350 would be a good jumping off point for a project methinks if you dig Kahlers.
veatch Posted June 29, 2014 Posted June 29, 2014 The Khaler is a non-issue since it needs a refin anyways. Tree-fiddy would be much more reasonable regardless. These things always tempt me, but then I realize, as much as I love working on guitars and projects, I love actually playing guitars more. I'm saving the $$$ for other things.
