Stupid iPhone 6s Question

So, is my iPhone stupid or is my question stupid?

I'm trying to do something very simple. Say, I have an artist like Big Wreck, whom I have 2 albums by. I want to play the last song of the earlier album and then have the player automatically continue playing the first song in the later album. And then when it's done, it would loop back and play the first song in the earlier album and continue infinitely (or until I stop it/the battery runs out).

On my Android phone this required 1 step: play the last song in the first album (and make sure repeat was on).

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this simple method is apparently impossible to do with the iPhone's built in player? The simplest I've been able to do it is to select Big Wreck as an artist as a whole and put them in Play Next (making sure repeat is on). Then go into the Up Next list and select the last song on the earlier album. Not a huge deal when only 2 albums are involved, but more annoying when say, 14 albums are involved. Is it really this stupid or is there something I'm missing?

Thanks in advance for helping an iPhone newbie out.

IPhone users never came to this requirement because Apple thought it out for them.

ETA: Amazon music player doesn't even have the option to repeat.

Yeah, no, that would be horrible. There's no way I'm creating a playlist for every artist in my library and then updating it whenever I add songs/an album by that artist  Ok, so as I suspected, Apple is just being inexplicably stupid. Thanks for the confirmation.

Or, ask Siri to play all songs by Artist without shuffling.

Right, but I don't want to play all the songs by and artist in a shuffled or alphabetical fashion. I want to, say, play Led Zeppelin III starting at Tangerine and then automatically have LZ IV start playing at song one once LZ III is done.. It's baffling that I can't just pick Tangerine and then have everything else take care of itself. Every platform has it's stupid quirks of course (for example, the Android player doesn't alphabetically sort correctly so "The Police", "The Who", etc.. are all in the "T" section ); I'm just getting used to the iPhone's. Hopefully, I'll be able to find a 3rd party player that will do this (although the couple I've looked at so far are even stupidier that the built-in one )

When you are looking at the list of artists, click on the artist's photo/icon (not the name that would then drill down to the artist's content). Your phone should start playing albums by that artist in succession (but probably not the succession you want). Once you've done that, you can click to the song you want to begin with in the playing list.

Sorting the albums chronologically is hit or miss - iTunes seems to reverse it or have mysterious ordering, and as far as I know you have no real control over this behavior.

This is probably the only feature of iOS that has actually been annoying to me (of course there are other minor things). Playlists will solve it of course if you have some favorites you'd like to save, but the "click the picture" trick seems to work for me for casual selection.

I am guessing there may be a better way to do this, but I haven't bothered looking for real solutions.

Looks like the Marvis Music Player does what I'm looking for. The interface isn't as nice, but it sorts the albums by year fine (either ascending or descending; user's choice) and will play through albums for any given artist starting at any song you pick and if you have repeat enabled it will continue looping through the artist continually. Just like what I'm used to from my Samsung S4. I'll still the use the built in music app a lot, but for daily commutes, Marvis is where it's at.

I thought advances in technology were supposed to make life EASIER.:ph34r:;)

That "make live easier" thing becomes scary. With iOS9 on for about a week, yesterday evening, while I had just started driving my current Sunday evening route to job location, the iPhone rang to signal an event. Wondering I had any configuration of sort, I looked up the phone to see that it wants to wish a great drive with no traffic issues ahead and arrival time by 160 minutes!

Big brother is not only watching you, but talking.

ETA: Never mind they scan every single step you make. When, damn, will it learn to suggest the most interesting HFC posts to me and fuel my GAS the proper way? B)

Well, I went 160 km/h and more. :D

Siri is evolving nicely. When she starts to anticipate my questions, I am OUT! For real.

Check out Ebay for a good old Nokia phone already. Google's Android wouldn't step behind Siri then.

I loved iTunes 3 years ago. Then they changed how everything was organized, and made it that much harder to do simple things like play all songs by an artist. Apple loves to take choices out of the consumers hands. At least my iPod classic still works like I want it to. the music app on my iphone 6? notsomuch.
