Ting Ho Dung Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 I suppose they are called Graphic equalizers too or is that different?
unfun75 Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 Boss GE-7 with sniper mod.So looks like Boss switched out the noisy parts a few years ago after complaints. Never mind on the mod.
Ting Ho Dung Posted December 9, 2015 Author Posted December 9, 2015 Boss GE-7 with sniper mod.So looks like Boss switched out the noisy parts a few years ago after complaints. Never mind on the mod.I was just looking at them on ebay. Are the new ones better? I was looking at some used ones that have been modded.ETA: I was looking at a modded one @ 109.99 and a new one @ 99.99 both free shipping.
unfun75 Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 I wish I could answer but haven't tried one made since the mid 2000's. TGP probably has some ge-7 threads. Does Joyo or Mooer make one? Probably would be same circuit but half the price. Also, the MXR eq's are pretty good. They have the regular model and then a Kerry King sig model.http://www.musiciansfriend.com/search?sB=r&Ntt=MXR+eqLooks like Joyo makes an MXR clone, not Boss clone. Cheap!https://reverb.com/item/1005628-joyo-6-band-eq-2015-black?_aid=pla¤cy=USD&pla=1&gclid=CKm1u9zlz8kCFcmVgQodh_cMvA
gorch Posted December 10, 2015 Posted December 10, 2015 Best I know of are SR&D Rockman Equalizers. Unless you want a pedal.
The Shark Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 The Maxon GE601 is really good in that market. The frequencies don't cover the upper register as well (amp controls are better for that IMHO) and it's only a 12db boost or cut on each frequency, but I just like it better. Used the GE-7 for years before I bought a Maxon. Love the 800hz boost for wah sounds. I think the Maxon controls aren't as precise (each control sweeps a little wider range of frequency), but it doesn't kill the thickness of your tone, if that makes any sense. Noise in peak boost of frequencies is about the same. Don't even own an EQ anymore. But I do have a good memory.
Jakeboy Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 I had an MXR 10 band stomper that was awesome. I traded it for some dirt pedal that is long gone.I have hang ups against using pedals to achieve my base tone.....but that EQ was cool and mega useful. I wish I kept it.
Armitage Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 Best I know of are SR&D Rockman Equalizers. Unless you want a pedal.Yeah, made for guitar frequencies first and foremost.
