Funky Chicken Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 Hello-I have been around various guitar forums for quite a while and lurked here forever. Have been a Hamer fan for a long time as well, but never owned one. There was always something else on my list that i could get my hands on easier. I thought I was pretty much over my GAS, but this forum has opened the floodgates-I need another guitar and I need Mike to build it.I have a pretty good idea of what I want and I suspect you guys will approve.
hamerhead Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 Hell you don't mess around, do you? Right to the top shelf, forget them old Hamers!Welcome. You'll do OK with whatever Mike throws at ya.
Funky Chicken Posted January 6, 2016 Author Posted January 6, 2016 Hell you don't mess around, do you? Right to the top shelf, forget them old Hamers! Welcome. You'll do OK with whatever Mike throws at ya. I am 50. I have no patience. Bring on the custom build. Seriously, tho- it appears that Mike builds a better expression of what I would like to have than anything I could find used regardless of price.
Jakeboy Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 Welcome and yeah, pursuing this part of the form produces serious GAS....hell, so does the rest of the HFC for that matter. These Shishkovs are very special though....but you seem to already know that.

These Shishkovs are very special though....but you seem to already know that. I blame you guys, mostly. I found this forum like three days ago, GAS was triggered, and all of a sudden my wife is like "what in the hell are you watching '70s Cheap trick videos for? Is that Don Kirschner?"
Funky Chicken Posted January 6, 2016 Author Posted January 6, 2016 Fun Fact-I went to my first CT show 5/26/79 at Convention Hall in Asbury Park, NJ dressed as Rick Nielsen. I was 14 and my grandmother dropped me off and picked me up.
cmatthes Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 Welcome aboard!Although the original run of "Ultimates" sold out in hours/days, Mike is taking requests/orders/deposits for his new models (see the "Prototypes" or "Cobra & Maverick" threads) now, to get started when he wraps up those first 48 or so guitars.I've played those two, and they are, in a word...SPECTACULAR.

mrjamiam Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 That is the way to introduce yourself to the forum. Welcome! You will still need a little patience for the custom build, though....
scottcald Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 Good times. Welcome. Once we get a few things finished at the house over the next couple weeks, I should be putting a deposit on a Shishkov myself. Been discussing some ideas with Mike.
BTMN Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 So, have any Rick-ish guitars? Or are you just getting started? BTW, Welcome. Seen any of my Cheap trick threads? Anytime I see them I like to take a few shots of Uncle Dick's Traveling Hamer Museum.
Funky Chicken Posted January 7, 2016 Author Posted January 7, 2016 I don't really have anything Rick influenced. He was a huge influence when I was just starting out and then I switched to bass for the purpose of getting more gigs. I always kept up with guitar, though, and always had more guitars than basses lying around.Current inventory-2012 Fender American Standard Strat2011 Suhr pro series Tele, Sonic Blue/Rosewood2005 EBMM Steve Morse in that year's limited "Buttercream", 1 of 2 produced AFAIK1995 PRS CE24, Black Cherry, bought new2012 PRS P22 (GC blowout @ 63% off list)2013 Gibson LP Traditional, currently boxed up to go to BCR Greg for a neck repair 1979 Ibanez ST50 (my first decent electric, lost in a friend's basement from 1983-2011)Taylor 514CETaylor 454CE 12 stringYamaha LS6 ARE acoustic (another irresistible GC blowout)Lakland 4-94 Deluxe bass, Amber/Maple, #276EBMM Sterling, Trans Red/Maple, super early example with neck dated 7/93, 6 months prior to introSure wish I had picked up some Hamers when only you guys cared. There is still time...
Jakeboy Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 You will like it here Funky One....good people and good deals. I think you'll fit right in.
Funky Chicken Posted January 8, 2016 Author Posted January 8, 2016 Already enjoying myself. Good vibe here. I just love guitars and music and so many other forums seem to get bogged down in pissing contests-not my thing.I gotta go email Mike now.
