sixesandsevens Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 Did any of the bolt-on models come standard (or regularly) with a vintage carve neck?
carfish7 Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 I know they can certainly be found, in fact I have a Centablo with just that sort of shape happening. Probably close to those dimensions on my Centaura as well, but not quite as full. My guess would be a very "hit and miss" prospect when discussing any boltie neck shapes. There may be tendencies over the years/models, but they really do seem to vary quite a bit. Never found a Hamer neck that was too thin, however, except a really odd Floyded Studio from a while back..........
Studio Custom Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 My recollection is the term "vintage carve" began in Connecticut, where as, the bolt-ons were strictly Arlington Heights. Could someone have ordered a thicker necked bolt on? Of course, was it the norm, no.
sixesandsevens Posted January 19, 2016 Author Posted January 19, 2016 My recollection is the term "vintage carve" began in Connecticut, where as, the bolt-ons were strictly Arlington Heights. Huh. You'd think I would have known that the bolt-ons were all AH after this many years.
JohnnyB Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 USA G&Ls can be ordered and spec'd from nine different neck profiles including Soft V and Deep V, nut widths ranging from 1-5/8" to 1-3/4", and fretboard radii of 7.5", 9.5", and 12".Elduave is a G&L dealer.
Ting Ho Dung Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 My Daytona definitely had a vintage carve neck. My USACG neck is also vintage carve. All the Zion's I've played are not. Or was this thread just about Hamer?
BubbaVO Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 My centaurs - thin neck. Daytona - thicker and close to the studio I had.
polara Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 My old Diablo had a big neck. Shame I dislike Floyds, as those are criminally overlooked guitars.
JohnnyB Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 My old Diablo had a big neck. Shame I dislike Floyds, as those are criminally overlooked guitars.I got a Centaura HB offa eBay around 2002 for tree-fiddy for my stepson. I mostly like clean to medium overdriven sounds, but that Centaura, Floyd and all, could deliver the goods on pretty much anything from clean jazz to semi-dirty blues to classic rock to all-out high-gain shred. You can save a lot of money on guitars if you just put away the dogmatic myths and trust how the guitar sounds and plays. In fact, that's how many of us got into Hamer in the first place.
it's me HHB Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 I pretty much use the Allparts FAT profile exclusively these days, its awesome, like a ball bat, the only exception is the Monaco Monaco, its got that cute little vintage carve
Tres Aardvarks Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 I'd be curious how the Chapparal neck carve compares to the Vintage Carve....I've played a couple vintage carve models at Casa de Stonge but didn't A-B with shreddies. Both my Chapparals have thicker necks than my Calis.
Bennyboy-UK Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 All my, now many, bolt on Hamers have different neck feels. The Calis are different, the Centauras are different. Width, depth, flatness and fatness

Width, depth, flatness and fatness Do any seem to tend towards the more vintage profile? Or are all of them "modern" or smaller?
