I'd like that. Will they ship to US? Is that a 'Buy it Now'? Wish I were multilingual.

This is a "buy it now" (sofort kaufen) for 1150 EUR (around 1300 USD plus transportation).

The condition is not detailed but could be discussed.

Sorry: 500 km from my home...

Thanks ghamerinfrance. Shipping from Germany & London cost me around 90 EUR, to ship home (10 min from it's old Arlington Heights factory!). I'd like to learn more on condition, originality, fret wear. Interested considering the fore mentioned, or price flex'.

Hi Dave,

I´ll contact the seller and look for more information!

The advantage is Jochen, you definitely speak a better german than mine :)

True, this could be interesting to know if the seller could consider shipping (which is in a way as easy in each direction).

Good luck Dave, this seems a good deal in deed.

Thanks Jochen. I can not do this without the assistance of the great folks of HFC. The great Montelovesco was a God send for an early '78 last year. He handled it magnificently. Love him.

ghamer',

Shipping was surprisingly painless, being my first coming overseas I was very unsure. I thought the post there was very reasonable, considering.

Rolling down the page on that I see several pretty nice Hamers. All at prices that would be seen as rather high here at THFC. Been seeing higher prices in Japan, now in Germany. Makes me wonder if "we" are the ones holding down prices on our favorite brand.

Do we really like them? Or is it just because we could buy them cheap that made them so wonderful?

I loved the Sunburst model since I was barely in high school and a few guitarists of the top local bands I admired, like John Ivan of Off Broadway, and Frank Jalovec of The Kind played them (we were in Chicago near the factories). It makes for a great 'raw' sounding guitar. Even though a 'production' model. I really dig them for their straight forward simple design, which seems to work.

Sorry Dave. Let me get my foot out of my mouth for a second and I'll re-phrase that.

I think $1300 is a great price for that guitar. I wish I could afford/find a place for it.

My comment was more about the prices listed for several other Hamers that showed up farther down that auction page;

1. Monaco Elite Custom - Transparent Black 2600 eu

2. USA Special - TV Yellow 2000eu

3. Artist Mahogany - Red Transparent 2200 eu

 4. Newport Pro Custom 2969 eu

5.And my personal lust of the year, Hamer USA Newport 12 Custom Shop - Natural *NEW (NOS) 12-string hollowbody, 3499 eu

All of these are fine guitars and several appear to be NOS, so the prices are or should be reasonable. But they are much higher than what I see similar USA Hamers selling for in the US. So I was just wondering if the rest of the world is keeping up with the values and we are repressing them here.

Or is it just that we have a larger pool to pick from so the prices are held down somewhat?

A nice guitar ... just 30 mins from my place if it's Buchholz, Nordheide :-)

Likely better than any Collector's Crap at 7-10 times the price and way too cheap ! ... so be quick, before poeple start fighting over it and raising the price.

Looks like I'm asking too much for my 82 B&C ...sigh ...

Believe it or not ... I was born in Arlington Heights. If I were a Strat I'd have a transition logo ...

Just sent a message and asked to visit and have a look.

I'm not interested, but I could help with some information and hands on experience - if it's not sold beforehand. The terms say shipping world wide, so I see a trigger being pulled soon.

Yes, a much larger pool. Most everything is more difficult to find in Europe, so the premium. The Sunburst almost seems reasonable.  So, I'm interested. Looks like a non-original case with it which is a bit of a pull.

An '81 here when they pop up, I'd expect selling a bit less. A few years ago they were only about $700 around here.

Wow! Arlington Heights 'Illinois"? So, is that why you also like Hamers? How'd you end up leaving??? Interesting.

My Parents are both German and from Hamburg. They emigrated to the States in the late 50's. They spent their first year in Palatine and then moved to Arlington Heights, where I was born. They stayed in the States for 16 years and then decided to go back to Hamburg when I was a kid. It's nice to have both citizenships. I plan on going back when I'm retired :-)

Consider Euro prices are including import tax and VAT. Adding a premium of about 23% to the currency converted original prices plus shipping.

Some of those guitars appeared in the sell-off period from the factory closing and have not sold since. The guitars are maturing in OHSC like a single malt in 1st fill casks. Suppose they make 10 years in two years. B)

Hamer Dave, I hope this works out as smoothly as last time. Good luck!

And for the European/German prices: Gorch was right with everything...But: To me it looks like the market is NOT willing to pay 2.600 Euro for a transblack Elite... Be the price justified (as I believe and know) or not... Some of the guitars listed above are on the market for years now.

Gorch and Monte', hadn't considered that, but def' part of the cost to get there.

Am I translating correctly, 65 Euro to ship to America on this? Is my US eBay log in going to work on this?
