Reverb.com question

Question

So I sold something on Reverb.  The guy paid pronto and all was well.  I supplied Reverb with the shipping tracking number.  Now I've got a statement of their (Reverb's) charges and don't see a way to pay them.  I'd like to get that cash into my bank account ASAP and I'm guessing here, but they probably won't release it until I pay up, right?

I'm probably missing something obvious, as usual.  What is it?

Reverb sends out a monthly invoice for their fees via email, which I pay via Paypal.  Whenever I've sold something, the money is immediately transferred to my Paypal account, so I don't understand why the payment towards your account was delayed. If the buyer paid with a credit card, then it takes a few days for the payment to be processed.

For me, whenever I've sold anything on Reverb, I'd get a monthly statement that I could pay through Paypal, via a link on the statement, but they have never auto deducted. I let one go for a couple of weeks and they just kept alerting me about it. They got their $12 bucks eventually.

My last one was delayed a bit. As soon as my Item left the home facility and was in transit, the money was released. If they pay with paypal its automatic.

I don't think that's the case...

You got the invoice quickly because it's the beginning of the month,  which is just dumb luck...

reverb releases payment typically a day or so, after you provide tracking  (actually,  I think it's

not when you provide tracking, but when it shows a carrier scan,  so if you hand it to the post office

ups etc,  make sure you get a scan.)  then it's 24 hours or so to hit your bank.

BTW:  I use paypal for reverb sales, and for me, it's just normal  (get funds up front, no time delay)    I have

a paypal debit card and for me,  it's convenient just to use that.

It turns out that the monthly invoice was just a chance first of the month thing.  It got paid automatically and no muss no fuss.

BUT... getting paid for the guitar is another thing altogether.  As noted per their policies and you guys' experience, Th package was presented to the carrier and showed movement two days ago (Wednesday).  I inquired about it with Reverb this morning and the guy I talked to said he'd rattle the machine and get the transfer to my bank out today (this was about 10 AM).

So here it is, close of business.  My buyer has the guitar, he's happy, still no money at my end.  Got a hold of Reverb via their chat and got some mealy-mouthing "it'll probably be processed on Monday" crap.  If this was my first sale, I'd understand, but this isn't and it runs contrary to their own policy.  I let them know that I was less than happy, got the "let me talk to a supervisor" crap and noped on out of there.

In the beginning, there was FeeBay and the people looked upon it and saw that it sucked.

Then Reverb was made.  And the people looked upon it and saw that it didn't suck at first but.... GRRRR.

I miss just using Paypal, I know it cost money but at least I can keep my guitar money and my family money separated. Hope you get it straightened out asap.

Good morning Tom, why don't you just give them a call?

They're pretty responsive in questions

Dave, after the second go-round with the instant messenger guy I did just that.  Got somebody who gave the machine a good  thump on the top (people who know from old tube-type TV's will understand) and the money was transferred inside half an hour, with apologies.  Problem solved.  It seems I was just too quick for them, having sold, packed and shipped the guitar, as well as it showing movement within the system all within about 5 hours on the same day.  I had wanted to get the guitar to the buyer before the weekend and put a bit of a hurry on.  No good deed goes unpunished I guess.  All's well that ends well, though.

I suspect Reverb may be having a bit of growing pains. They have been zooming up in popularity as more and more guitar shops are listing things there instead of places like Gbase. More and more new items are showing up, kinda pushing out the used stuff. A lot of people are tired of the ebay auction or buy it now platform. Reverb just makes the whole transaction seem friendlier and in person.
