Schecter USA vs tom anderson vs hamer

Question

Been reading and hearing good things re schecter USA custom shop (not the super expensive masterbuilt). Curious how you'd compare them from a build standpoint vs current Tom Anderson (formerly worked at Schecter) and our belowed Hamers?

I already know TA and Suhr (another former schecter employee), mike tuttle, etc    It is the schecters that i havent experienced yet

I like the tele-ish guitars (schecter pt, anderson t and cobra, etc).

Thx for any thoughts.

I have an 85 dallas guitar that has the best neck and fretwork ever. Weird trem Ive never even tried but man it feels like an L series era strat but 22 frets and ebony.  Frankly the Schecters are kinda all over the place. I tried one of the Jimi models from the mid 80s and it wasnt near as nice as my guitar

I owned two 90's Schecter PT's and they looked exactly like the Anderson dual hum teles of the time. Same huge "super rock" pickup magnets, same dual strap buttons at the bottom, same contours, etc. The build quality was excellent. Nice choice woods. But, like I said, they were early to mid 90's models. I was this close to buying a brand new Schecter USA PT tele "GT edition" last year on Reverb. Specs were great, price was great, but I just couldn't pull the trigger on a guitar with a racing stripe.

I added a pic of the trans red one I owned.

I had a buddy with an '85ish Schecter Dallas era guitar (black SSS with ebony board and that same weird trem whose name escapes me right now) and his guitar's neck was without doubt a LaSiDo (Canadian) Schecter-logo'ed ghost build. I know some of the mid to late 80s Zion Radicasters had those LaSiDo ghost-build necks as well. They were ebonies too. Just in case you're looking for another without spending vintage Schecter money or happen upon one hidden in something else.

I've had a slew of mid-'80's Schecters, and they were all over the place, quality-wise.
There was only one of them that I should have kept, but I think Our Fearless Leader now owns it, so I'm ok with that.

None, however, compare to the FACKYO SCHARTER, comprised of Warmoth wood and Rio Grande pickups.

I have to agree with Kiz on old Schecter quality..

I 've had roughly 10 old Pete Townshends ranging from pre A plate to mid '85... Seems the further away they got from the initial run the sloppier things got.

Bought one in Wyoming while on the road in '86.. Nothing but trouble with it and after a few weeks  I sent it packing.

I sold a beautiful one to a guy in Minn about 9 years ago , it carried the rare chrome hardware package, "A" plated with warranty card and ohsc, found it locally for $350, and was by far and away the best Schecter I ever owned or played... I'd love to have that one back at any cost. In fact, I just told one of my repair customers this morning how DEEPLY I regretted letting that one go.  Truly wonderful guitar.

I look at their offerings today,  and am told by BCR that the build is great, my hang up is the headstock shape, or I'd already have one of those killer Koa top ones !

Thanks, everyone. My sense priorvtobthis post was one just never knows w a 1984- schecter. But recent usa builds seem good. I think.

I'm unimpressed with the newer USA Schecters for the price-and that headstock is horrid.  I've had great luck with three of the four Dallas-era PTs I've had (all 84-early 85s), which easily surpassed any of the newer ones I've played.  The one I have now is incredibly good.

I have yet to play a bad Suhr, they're just not my thing.

Tried several.  In your shop.  Not as good as the old ones I have/have had. Not even really close, actually, but maybe I've been lucky with the ones I've had.
