crunchee Posted March 8, 2017 Posted March 8, 2017 I think that's been kickin' around for a few years.

It has been up on Ebay more than a few times, not my cupa but sure there are a few that would love to have the guitar...................boots maybe not so much. When your Dad owns a aerospace company you can own all sorts of things.
velorush Posted March 8, 2017 Posted March 8, 2017 Cool guitar (and boots) but that ad is desperation-oversale incarnate. Good grief: some nice photos, proof of province, a brief synopsis and end. Twenty paragraphs of hyperbole is not helpful to the cause. [/opinion]
mc2 Posted March 8, 2017 Posted March 8, 2017 That was mine. I did a trade with that clown and got burned on the deal. The piece I got from him had issues and he did not make good on his word to rectify it. Beware dealing with him.
velorush Posted March 8, 2017 Posted March 8, 2017 I mean, seriously, the only thing this is lacking is an exposition on how the neck was fashioned from Moses' staff. This should be broken into chapters: HAMER BILL KAMAN PERSONAL GUITAR. “Broadcaster” “Esquire” ORIGINAL CUSTOM LEATHER COVERED BODY WITH INTRICATE FLAME PATTERN. A PIECE OF ART. ONLY ONE. 1996. EXTRAORDINARY INVESTMENT. PRISTINE CONDITION. THIS GUITAR BELONGS IN NASHVILLE, TN AND SHOULD BE PLAYED ON THE NEXT CMA SHOW. IT IS THAT COOL. PLEASE GO ONLINE FOR MORE PHOTOGRAPHS TO: https://picasaweb.google.com/116104327813843206157/HAMERBOOTGUITAR# About the Guitar: All guitar collectors and guitar players know Bill Kaman, II. And they know that he loves wearing cowboy boots. And that he plays guitar as well as he designed and made them. Bill Kaman, II is an ICON of AMERICAN GUITAR HISTORY. From the NAMM site: “Bill Kaman served as president of Kaman Music Corporation, a company started by his father. Under Bill’s direction, Kaman Music expanded its product line, developed overseas markets, and acquired new companies to be managed under the corporation. In addition, he has also insisted on new and innovative improvements to the instruments under the Kaman name, particularly the Ovation guitar. Bill served on the NAMM board during the early days of market and development activities, supporting the industry’s growth beginning in the early 1990s. “ (copyright-NAMM). That’s a good word summary of Bill but is like a single thirty second frame from a four hour movie. Several of my friends worked at Hamer during Bill’s active days there. One tells the story of Bill walking onto the floor with his trademark boots echoing as he walked. As he says, “Short of combat boots, cowboy boots were the only footwear that could support the energy and innovativeness that was Bill-in other words-the BOOTS FIT-SO HE WORE THEM.” Unfortunately for me, the BOOTS DO NOT FIT. They are size 12. I wear size 9, so that puts me out. This is a recent addition to my collection and I am fascinated by it but have not become permanently attached to it (like the ’64 Firebirds, the ’61 Burns Bisons, et al) and am able to justify its sale by blaming it on my personal accountant who says-LIFO-“Last In-First Out”. So this is a LIFO sale. The former owner of this ONE OF A KIND GUITAR provided me with this email that he received directly from Bill Kaman: “Yeah, I had that one made. Tony Murga did the body, www.murgaboots.com He's a good friend. You need to get one of his alligator straps. The cool thing about that "Esquire" T51 was that the forward position of the switch was the pickup tapped at 50%, the middle was off and back was full power. Bill Kaman” NOTE: Terry McInturff, of TERRY MCINTURFF GUITARS, personally did the set up of this guitar for me-before coming into his own as ONE OF THE BEST LUTHIERS IN THE BUSINESS-Terry worked with several major guitar makers-including a long stint with HAMER-so he knows their guitars as well as anyone does. Details of this guitar: MODEL: T-51 aka “BROADCASTER” and “ESQUIRE” YEAR: 1996 SN: 646180 BODY STYLE: “TELE” BODY: ASH COVERED WITH CUSTOM LEATHER SUEDE IN INTRICATE FLAME PATTERN BY THE FAMOUS BOOTMAKER, TONY MURGA. ALONG WITH THE LEATHER GUITAR COVERING, TONY ALSO MADE BILL KAMAN A SET OF BOOTS TO MATCH THE GUITAR AS WELL AS A MATCHING STRAP. ONE DUNCAN “1/4 POUNDER”. And as noted by Bill, “PICKUP: the forward position of the switch was the pickup tapped at 50%, the middle was off and back was full power.” PICKUP: 3 WAY BLADE (see Bill’s note above) BRIDGE: WILKINSON. NECK: MAPLE. SLIM “C” with 13” curve/radius. FINGERBOARD: MAPLE TUNERS: SPERZEL LOCKING. CASE: ORIGINAL HARD SHELL. CONDITION: PRISTINE CONDITION. Does not show any wear at all on guitars. THE BOOTS: CUSTOM MADE BY TONY MURGA. INCREDIBLE CRAFTSMANSHIP. SIZE 12. BILL DID WEAR THESE BOOTS AND THEY SHOW SOME WEAR (and do have sawdust embedded into the soles straight off the floor of the HAMER factory). MATCHED TO THE GUITAR-OR GUITAR MATCHED TO THEM? THE STRAP: CUSTOM MADE BY TONY MURGA. INCREDIBLE CRAFTSMANSHIP. MATCHED TO THE GUITAR-OR THE BOOTS? This piece neatly fits into the “VERY CLOSE NICHE OF HIGHLY COLLECTIBLE GUITARS” for these reasons: 1. ONE OFF BY MAJOR MAKER. 2. CUSTOM MADE FOR FAMOUS PERSON. 3. PRISTINE CONDITION. 4. UNIQUE CHARACTERISTICS. 5. ARTISTIC. I would recommend this guitar to COLLECTORS or DEVOUT “HAMERHEADS”. A member of either of these groups will RELISH and CHERISH this piece. NOTES: This guitar has been completely set up by the TERRY MCINTURFF CUSTOM SHOP including new strings, electronics cleaned, intonation set, etc Please remember to read our policies and procedures listed below but if you still have questions, please email us through ebay . Thank you. THE TERRY C. MCINTURFF EVALUATION: For those guitars selected for evaluation by Mr. McInturff’s custom shop, each will receive the following work: 1. Audit of the guitar giving details about the guitar (buyer to receive a copy of this audit). 2. Complete cleaning of the guitar and all components (including electronics and frets). 3. All repairs necessary to insure correct operation of the guitar. 4. Replacement of strings. 5. Complete setup (adjustment of bridge, pickups, tremolo device etc). In the event of a problem with the guitar that Mr. McInturff, and his staff, cannot completely resolve, a notice will be given as to the nature of the problem and the Buyer must use his/her judgment in making a decision to purchase the instrument. NOTE: NO THIRD PARTY SHIPMENTS-WE ONLY SHIP TO THE BUYER WHO PAYS FOR IT. How we indicate condition of guitar: Perhaps one of the most difficult aspects of selling guitars (and most collectibles) is the manner in which condition is determined and rated. We have chosen to stay away from the percentage scale and from the “MINT” down scale as well. They just cannot be quantified. We will use the definitions listed below, which are also subjective, but more general. Rating collectibles of any type is always subjective and to do attempt to do it on some objective checklist basis always seems to raise more questions than answered. We just want the Buyer to be pleased with her/his purchase and to not complain if there is a cat hair under the E string on the 5th fret. Our definitions used to describe condition of guitars: PRISTINE/EXCELLENT. Very little, if any, fret wear, neck wear, body wear, scratches, dings, or other cosmetic damage. Electronics work correctly. Hardware works correctly (tuners, tremolo systems, bridges, and tailpieces). Other accessories with the guitar, i.e., hang tags, tools, etc., will be noted in the ad. Pictures in ad, or as provided later, will take precedence over any written description.ks correctly (tuners, tremolo systems, bridges, and tailpieces). VERY GOOD. More wear and tear than EXCELENT but still in very good cosmetic condition. Again, the nicks, dings, etc will be described in the ad and shown in the pictures. Hardware works correctly (tuners, tremolo systems, bridges, and tailpieces). GOOD. Step down from very good. Other definitions we may use: NOS. New Old Stock. Speaks for itself but the condition will still be rated. PROTOS. These are usually one of a kind prototype instrument. DEMOS (Display): From NAMM etc. ONE OF A KIND. Only one like it. If you have any questions about the condition of a guitar that we are advertising for sale, please ask us before you bid and we will provide you with whatever information you require to make your decision about bidding on an item. BUT THE ULTIMATE GUARANTEE THAT WE WILL GIVE YOU ON ANY ITEM IS “YOU ARE BIDDING ON WHAT YOU SEE IN THE PICTURES AS TO COSMETIC CONDITION” AND WHAT IS LISTED IN THE AD AS TO ELECTRONIC CONDITION. FOR NOS GUITARS, PROTOS, AND DISPLAY GUITARS, THEY ARE SOLD IN “AS IS” CONDITION. Thank you. ONE LAST NOTE: We appreciate feedback about our offerings but please do not email us about our prices. WE DO NOT BELIEVE, AND HAVE NEVER TRUSTED, “BOOK VALUE” AS A MEASURE OF VALUE FOR A GUITAR (and most other things). Such a concept only works if you are selling in a mass market situation where one item is just like the next one off the line. NONE OF OUR GUITARS SOLD HERE REALLY CAN BE CALLED “MASS MARKET” PIECES. Each was purchased for a unique feature (appearance, sound, construction, craftsmanship, ownership, maker, etc) and therefore cannot be given a “book value”. NOTE: ABOUT PAYMENTS FOR THIS GUITAR. WE ARE FORCED BY EBAY TO USE PAYPAL AS A FORM OF PAYMENT. WE WILL DO THAT BUT ONLY FROM PAYPAL FUNDS AVAILABLE IN YOUR ACCOUNT OR BY ECHECK. PAYPAL. SHIPPING CHARGES. The charges listed in this ad are for the continental US only. Shipment outside that area is at actual cost and Buyer must pay all tariffs, duties, and other charges that may be levied on the item when it is imported into its final destination. And for foreign buyers, please request a quote for shipping cost before you bid. No surprises are always good. And please do not ask that we use a lower value for an export shipment. NOTE: WE WILL NOT SHIP TO ANY THIRD PARTY AND WE WILL NOT DO SHIP TO ANY FIRM, SUCH AS Shop Airlines America or sekaimon WHO RESHIPS THE ITEM OUTSIDE THE USA. SHIPPING DAMAGE. Any external, or internal, shipping damage MUST BE REPORTED to Seller and to Carrier within 24 hours of receipt of delivery. IT IS THE BUYER?S RESPONSIBILITY TO NOTIFY SELLER IMMEDIATELY IF THE INSTRUMENT HAS INCURRED ANY DAMAGE DURING SHIPMENT. IN THE EVENT OF SUCH DAMAGE, PLEASE RETAIN ALL SHIPPING MATERIALS FOR INSPECTION.NO EXCEPTION. 1. Payment must be received within five days of the end of the auction. 2. NO REFUNDS. Please ask your questions before you bid. As noted under "Shipping", we will repair any defective item. This does not apply to shipping damage or to damage after receipt. Please note that every guitar we sell has been fully audited, tested, set up,inspected, and photograph prior to shipment. ABOUT TUNEYOURSOUND. Tune Your Sound Sound Your Tune Guitars make Sounds ! Guitar players make Tunes. But which guitar makes your Tune best? The beginning point in making a tune is You. The music in your head goes to your hands which form chords and notes. The end point is the Tune heard by those listening created by the Sounds of the instruments in between. Our job at TuneYourSound.com (TYS) is to fill in the middle. Or, in other words, "complete the chain". We are guitar players and collectors at TuneYourSound.com. Collectively we have personally owned and played over 1800 guitars. And we have seen guitar players play-from Jimi using his teeth to Jimmy using his bow. And now, we want to tell you what we have learned over the years and under the stages. First: There should be two primary guitars in your life. The one you start with (by choice or coincidence) and the one you finish with (once you find it, you'll know it and keep it). But of course, humans are acquisitive by nature, so we are prone to own more than we need-but a guitar player must have what he really needs. Two: Sometimes it's better for a guitar to be heard than seen and other times it's better for a guitar to be seen than heard. So, play it both ways. Buy a guitar that does both. Three: Avoid the hype. Especially now with the Internet overloading us with data. Buy a guitar that you trust from someone you trust. Four: Make it personal. Establish a relationship with your seller. That way you will never be disappointed-nor abandoned. After all, it is still about money-your money. And you deserve to get more than you give. At TuneYourSound.com, we have the answer!
serial Posted March 8, 2017 Posted March 8, 2017 Yeah-I'll completely avoid that one mostly based on the ridiculous price-especialy for what it is (a 'niche' market so small as to be nonexistent) but there is nothing in that add that isn't indicative of an annoying asshole seller. Pass.

JohnnyB Posted March 8, 2017 Posted March 8, 2017 Murga makes some cool stuff--handmade cowboy boots, leather jackets, belts, guitar straps, leather-finished guitars and amps, cases, etc. That doesn't mean I think this guitar/boots ensemble is a good deal, or anything close to it. I mean, Kaman (the man) was a visionary with major impact on aviation and guitar technology, but I wouldn't be paying outsize prices for relics as though he's a Saint (e.g., his Holy Boots).
crunchee Posted March 8, 2017 Posted March 8, 2017 DAY-UM. By the time I waded through all that hyper-hyperbole hard-sell shit, I forgot what he was selling.

Unless I have my historical facts out of whack, the elder Kaman was the aerospace brain. The son was a scion, but can be credited with helping maximize the potential in Lyrachord as a body material for guitars and the value in brands such as Hamer.
