WTB DD-90 Talladega bridge pickup

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I would like to grab a Seymour Duncan Custom shop DD-90 from Talladega. I am interested only in the bridge pickup.

I am located in Poland, but I can buy through eBay, pay with PayPal, you name it.

If you have it please give me an offer.

Thanks!

Bump.

If you do not want to ship outside CONUS let me know. I have a friend who can pass the package.

Have you contacted Seymour Duncan’s Custom Shop?   Simply put, there just aren’t many Talladegas in existence, and most people have kept them stock.   It’ll be a tough one to track a spare bridge pickup, but then again, stranger things have happened!

Good luck... 🤞🏻

I put a humbucker in the bridge of my Talladega for years but always kept the stock pickup. But the DD back in a little while ago when I started getting into Tele type guitars and pickups. Point of the story is: like Chris said, most people will keep them stock and the ones who do replace the pickups usually keep the stock pickups around just in case. It wouldn’t be the first time I’ve seen the stock DD pickups for sale, but I could count on one hand how many times I’ve seen it. Maybe half a hand...

Contact Seymour Duncan and see if their custom shop can help you out. If they can’t, continue your search and good luck, sir.

Years back I saw a pair on open bidding on eBay.  I never thought of contacting the Seymour Duncan Custom shop.  IMO the best part of the Talladega is the DD pickups.  I have a dual HB Telecaster I'd also thought it would be cool to put DD's in.  I always cringe when I see a Talladega that's had the DD's removed.  Good luck with the search.  Some one else out their also makes a humbucker P-90 sized pickup with the larger pole pieces but I can't remember who it is.  Maybe it's:  Harmonic Design Z-90.

I've got a set sitting in my Tally case but can't separate them from the guitar because of the opinion expressed above, even if they are wrong.

I apologize for the mini-hijack, but what makes wrong for you @cynic? Just curious...

I am certain Josh  Gravelin or Rumpel Pickups can make something very, very similar or even better, as well. JMO

The neck and bridge are unbalanced and just don't play well together.  Being a master volume guitar there's no nudging them into a decent relationship.

The Tally is the best thing Hamer ever made.  They just made it with the wrong pickups.

THIS ^^^

However, the Tally is the only guitar I have left with the stock pickups. I put the stock bridge pickup back in about a year ago and it’s really growing in me. The neck P90-ish DD has been one of my favorites of all time.

Mine too, truth be told. I did take my1980 Special back to stock, but those early Dimarzio PAFs were awesome.

Yup. Only my Talladega has non-Gravelins in it. All of my others are stocked completely with Josh’s pickups or his rewinds. I even have one of his pickups just sitting around waiting for me to build a guitar around it...

Thanks everyone!

I have scored one already here on this forum a few years ago, however it was a neck one. I would love to score the bridge now. If I won't be able to do it I will most likely go to SD custom shop.
