Never knew you were once known as "Riffsmith."

"Jagoff" and "Cockhead" I was aware of.

I never owned it, but it always makes me look twice when it comes up for sale because it looks so much like my black 1981 Special at first glance. But then I notice those two chips in the paint by the high-E string and bridge pickup and realize, "Oh, okay, it's that one again."

Interestingly enough, this one - 1 3614 - has a plain headstock, while mine - 1 4087 - has a checkerboard headstock. (My '80 Special, 0 2218, also has the checkerboard.)

My understanding is that they had run out of checkerboard logos after the 1980 run and got more mid-year, 1981.
Either that or they made a change to the plain logo and then thought better of it.

I owned it and put the Dimarzio 36ths in it (came to me with no pickups). It sounded great but the neck was so small as to be translucent. Bridge is one of Hamerhead's works of art. Been refretted at some point. No breaks when I had it.

My '81, 1-3801 has a plain logo and it's neck is suitable for 10 year old girls only...

Luckily my hands are about that size so I'm good, but any normal "human" or player would likely struggle.

I had it for a while.

^^^This. Absolutely the smallest neck of any Hamer I've ever had. It came to me with no pickups and I passed it along that way (IIRC). Nice to see it's still around!

I would widen that scope to "any Hamer I've ever touched." The purple Prince Studio was a possible tie.

God, this thing's been passed around more than that one girl we all knew in high school.  And unfortunately, I've had my hands on neither. 🙄

So…. This neck is “small” as in thin/wizard-like profile or super narrow nut width; or both…?

I'm a "neck size" junkie, because my tinys are the size of Circus Midgets; though they do NOT smell of cabbage; as far as you guys know!

Anyway, here's the specs on my Hamers:

81 - 1-3801 (non Checkerboard Logo) 1 5/8" nut/42mm, 0.79 at the 1st, 0.76 3rd, 0.85 12th   -  Doesn't seem crazy thin by the numbers but I'm telling ya, it feels smaller!

91 - Sunburst Factory Floyd 1 11/16th, 0.835 1st, 0.838 3rd, 0.856 12th

93 - FM Special 1 11/16th, 0.795 1st and 0.83 12th

92 - Sunburst - Funny enough I haven't measured this one but IIRC it's numbers were identical to the 93 FM, if not they're really close

The shape was OK, but it's like the neck-sanding guy zoned out for 20 minutes or so and ended up with a toothpick.
