Greg sold me this one and the two humbucker cherry finished one.  Stupidly, I sold this one off due to my love/hate relationship with P-90s.  

I'D PAY A THOUSAND DOLLARS MORE FOR THAT GUITAR, IF ANYONE HERE BOUGHT IT.

Kashola had "Tweetie Pie".  Single pickup fakimba.  I think he sold it.

Long story short on my Fakimba Fleety...

I custom ordered it from Dave Wintz (RIP) at Robin through Greg at BCR. I ordered it with a thinner neck, like a Gibby Slim-60s, not the usual size. Most Robins seem to have medium to big necks. When I got it, the combination of Fakimba being lighter and it being carved Thin made it touchy to play. The neck would bend a bit and would fret out if you worked it hard. So, I returned it to Dave and he made me the Red 2-PU one in Mahogany. Not sure when/if he sold it.

It looked bad-ass cool with the grain going in the direction of the body.

That was actually a relatively short story.

Funny you mentioned neck size and BCR, though.
I had custom ordered an Avalon Dolphin Classic and loved everything about the guitar except the neck size, which was too small for my taste.

This was strange because (and I've told this story 100 times before) I had witnessed Greg take a neck blank and shape it to a large, '58 Gibson style profile with a very soft V. It was an impressive display of craftsmanship, honestly.
He handed it to Dave and said, "I want all of my custom orders to have this neck."

Why did mine come with a small-ish neck?
Well, for starters, it was a guitar that I spoke to Dave directly about. It wasn't a "BCR order" technically, but I was clearly in that clique.
Also, it seems due to a miscommunication in the shop, some of the necks were shaped/final sanded twice. Not what you want, unless the '60's Slim Taper is your jam.

When I ordered my 2nd Avalon Custom, it had "the neck." Just perfect.

Of course, both guitars now reside in the "Formerly Owned By Kizanski" wing of the @The Shark Collection.

Wonderful guitars!  I moved the Fakimba but only because the quilt sounds so amazing it wasn't getting played.

What the heck is fakimba? I assume a name for something not limba?  But specifically what wood is it.  Looks cool

(FAKYO minus YO) + (LIMBA minus L) = FAKIMBA !

IIRC, it's Spanish Cedar:

Other than Ruokangas solidbodies from Finland and 'carved' top Godin Core 'chambered' body guitars, as well as traditionally-made classical acoustics, Robin was the only other manufacturer that I know of that used Spanish Cedar, though I could be wrong.

I believe Huber and others use Spanish Cedar also.

Martin has used Spanish cedar as an alternate to mahogany for their guitar necks the past 10 - 12 years.  Interestingly, Martin used S. Cedar for necks during the late 1800’s and early 1900’s before they transitioned to using mahogany (1915-20?).
