ChugD Posted November 7, 2023 Posted November 7, 2023 No affiliation, just ran across this on CL. https://seattle.craigslist.org/see/msg/d/seattle-hamer-usa-redwood-studio-custom/7681142421.html
ib2010 Posted November 7, 2023 Posted November 7, 2023 Strikingly handsome in hand, one of my biggest regrets that I let go.
WorstBandName Posted November 7, 2023 Posted November 7, 2023 There was a Redwood Prototype that sold for less than $3500 on Reverb recently. I would think this guitar is somewhere between 2750-3000 tops (just taking a guess though), depending on the buyer. The used market is pretty slow, but who knows? If it was local to me, I would be making a cash offer today.
HamerCustomEr Posted November 8, 2023 Posted November 8, 2023 It would be cool to have a Hamer that was in "The Book"! Maybe not $3900 cool, though.
django49 Posted November 9, 2023 Posted November 9, 2023 I talked to the owner of this one today. He may still be a member, but has not been here for sometime. He asked me for advice on selling it, as he bought another higher end Hamer from me quite a while ago. He appears to have little experience with shipping or sales to "strangers" but may be open if all that can be reconciled. I DID tell him that those are great guitars, but his price was pretty optimistic. I think he WILL check back in here....... I do (sorta) miss my former Redwood, but my Shishkov custom order (#88) just left it in the dust.
Nan0brain Posted November 9, 2023 Posted November 9, 2023 I reached out to him a couple days ago asking if he'd be willing to ship to FL. If the sale goes to another, then that's life. But, and this might sound crazy, I'm willing to buy! I'd love to have it.

I have spent more money than I needed to for a special (to me) guitar here and there. A few months later, got a great deal on an even better one. It evens out to some extent. Best of luck getting it.
Nan0brain Posted November 10, 2023 Posted November 10, 2023 I owe you my thanks for posting it up, ChugD. We spoke over the phone today. I was nervous, he was cool. Plans were made and hopefully all goes well. Now I feel like asking what your finder's fee is 😀

Let us know when you get it / pics / all that.

But, if you decide to sell it down the road, just know that some of us have poor self control when it comes to cool Hamers.
oloboy Posted November 10, 2023 Posted November 10, 2023 Hey HFC, It has been a looong time. I looked it up and my last post was 10 years ago! Thank you and congratulations to Nan0brain. The Redwood is really a special guitar. I frankly was not sure I wanted to let it go but decided to offer it up locally. Then unknown to me, HFC got word. Suddenly I was getting a number of out of state inquiries. As Django49 mentioned I was hesitant to ship but we worked that out. Partly because of the confidence you good people on this site have provided. Including Django49 who kindly took the time to give me great advice (and a great guitar years ago). Also confidence building was talking to Nan0brains and seeing his nice collection of Hamers. Good to know Red is going to a good home in good Hamer company. Although sad it is going, I enjoyed 10+ years with it but in that time have become more of a single coil and p90 player. So, I'll be blasting my beloved Monaco III loud and proud to keep scratching the Hamer itch. Thanks again, O
Nan0brain Posted November 27, 2023 Posted November 27, 2023 Bump/Dump: It's a really nice Studio! Scratchless body with a little 'itis at the neck joint, and in dire need of some fretwork! I dig the sound a lot.

Cboss Posted November 27, 2023 Posted November 27, 2023 Those big dents the first few frets, how does that happen?

ChugD Posted November 27, 2023 Author Posted November 27, 2023 I had similarly worn frets on a PRS and got away with a fret dress job. That one divot is pretty decent though. That must be where you play the solo to "Free Bird".
Nan0brain Posted November 27, 2023 Posted November 27, 2023 It was a "don't ask" situation regarding the frets - he did in fact tell me there was fret wear during one of our phone conversations, and to be fair he asked me if I wanted any more pictures of anything specific and I said no. I was more glad for his willingness to ship and was ready to take what may come. After 10+ years of him owning it, I am happy that the body is indeed in excellent+ shape and can't honestly blame him for playing the shit outta this thing, because it does sound so terrific. I'll check around locally and see what can be done and in the meantime make do with a capo!
crunchee Posted November 27, 2023 Posted November 27, 2023 5 hours ago, Nan0brain said: Lol It could have been worse...the divots could have been in the wood, not just the frets. I've seen that happen a lot to 'beginner' model guitars from the '50's and '60's, where whoever played it used a 'death grip' when chording...or trimmed their fingernails as often as P. Green.
