WTB - Early 90s Sunburst Archtop

Evening all,

Heres a bit of a specific ask, does anyone have an early 90s era Sunburst Archtop available to buy for a non-insane price.

I happen to really love the wide thin necks and Stadium logos.

I’m lucky enough to own a most beautiful Floyded 59 burst version which I love and find myself actually in need of a Hardtail version.

Here my old thing with a couple of other old nails:

(Hardtail unless Scotty Hills guitar appeared…)

If it was Salmon Blush with a lovely top - that would be nice but to be fair, most of the Hamer from 89-93 to me, seem to have good pretty tops.

I’m in no desperate hurry but I would love to hear from you.

Cheers all,

Ben.

@Bennyboy-UK : I hope you find the ‘90’s sunburst archtop of your dreams and don’t mean to undermine your thread, but your mention of Scotti Hill reminded me of two custom Hamers that Guitar Center in the East Bay (Bay Area) had back around ‘89: IIRC they were loosely Firebird shaped, but bigger and longer, more angular, both blue, with I believe Floyds, and both with ‘Scotti Hill’ on the peghead. Anyone else know of such beasts? @cmatthes? @HamStd? I don’t have ‘the book’, are they in there?

Thanks for humoring me, We now return to Bennyboy’s search….

Peter owns those and they are in the book.

Not quite what you're looking for, but close:

That’s actually very different from what Benster’s looking for here.  The early 90s models are very unique, actually.

Ah yeah that thing is fantastic and gets played all the time - I think Centauras are such great guitars!

I had two HH models from 1990 which I really loved and it confirmed that these are good for me, but I really wanted a maple board model, and one that was in better nick that the older ones.

I bought this one from Japan - there were quite a few HH versions in black with Maple fingerboards that appeared to make it out there. Often these guitars seemed to have Schaller logo'd FRs rather than Hamer ones for some reason - and the guitar came with Black hardware.

I had a couple of NOS Glod Hamer logo'd FRs, one of which I bunged in here, and some suitable machine heads and Locking Nut etc.

I'm totally over having a problem with Gold Hardware - I think it looks fine :D

It's a 1995, and came over with an EMG 85 in the bridge position and the expected SD 59 in the neck position.

I added a JB I had lying around to replace the EMG - although I will be replacing both with 80s Slammer Humbuckers (as per the 1990 models I had before) - I have one in hand with another I just need to sort out.

Obviously I' quite like the HS model that Joe has, but as thats practically impossible - this does me just fine for the Steve Stevens vibe, and its different to what a lot of people have - and all the better for it - the colour scheme is lovely to me!

What do you consider a non-insane price?

I just need to clear $1800 and have shipped Internationally previously. This a bad time of year to do so IMHO.

This could be such a price.

On German Kleinanzeigen is a black Archtop Std./dotted for 1400 Euros/1200 GBP/1520 USD (+shipping, customs & fees etc.). It popped up just today.

STADIUM-Logo.

No affiliation.

Good question!

I guess it’s a bit tricky because if I’m importing from abroad which is most likely and what I’ve had to do for a load of my nicest guitars, I have to add on a decent chunk of extra costs to any purchase.

I need to add insured shipping and then about 25% tax and duty on top of the total.

So for the guitar itself I guess £1,500 - £1,700 or so, excluding all the other costs I mention.

I do still have the jaded old school view of the pricing of this stuff, and obviously if I’m selling one of mine, clearly it would be priced at a reassuringly expensive level 😛
