  2. For that kind of scratch I'd buy first class tickets for me and the guitar and hand deliver it to the buyer.
  3. Today
  4. Got the right one delivered late this morning. It does have a bit of binding separation at the upper waist and lower cutaway, but that was in the description. Bridge pickup cover has a fair bit of pitting. I was planning to swap in some TV Classics on this one anyway, but I plugged it in to test as-is with the Lollars, and it sounds ace. I recorded an A/B of this and my Artist Custom (with the stock Seth Lovers), and I was surprised that the Lollars are quite a bit lower output. I recorded the Newport first, then without changing any settings on the rig, I plugged in the Artist and was immediately clipping the recording interface on the clean channel, had to cut about 12dB to get roughly the same perceived loudness clean. Anyway, the hollowbody and slightly lower output definitely make this sound smoother and more open than the Artist. The Seths have a bit more quack. Two different flavors of good. I'm still thinking one Newport with Firebird pickups, one with Filtertrons, an Artist with Seth Lovers, and Artist Korina(s) with 3 P90s gives me a pretty killer stable. I actually wanted to move the Firebird pickups from my other Newport (vintage orange transparent with Bigsby) to this one and put the 'trons in that one, to complete the nod to Gretsch, but I'll gonna have to get or make custom pickup rings to do so, since that Newport came from the factory with the bigger chrome rings that TV Jones's Gibson-style mounts won't fit.
  5. $142,487.63 + Shipping Really? They want a shipping charge on top of that price?

  8. I like the music city burst better, it has the original Tophat knobs and what appears to be an ebony overlay on the peghead. The face of the headstock just looks to be painted black on the reverb example.
  9. OOOHHHHhhhhh.... I finally got it!
  10. Regarding fraudsters on this (or any other) page, try to do some sleuthing and verify that they are who they say they are before sending any money for something. Not sure if asking HFC trivia would help in all cases, but regardless, be very careful of any suspicious dialog or insist that they send a picture of them with the guitar or a pic with something current with the actual guitar. That's not an unreasonable request. Fraudsters are getting more and more sophisticated, and A.I. has only made their scamming easier.
  11. It's possible that there are others - I have a vague recollection of seeing one or two, but I can't think of any specific examples off the top of my head though.
  12. Ha! My wife went to elementary school with Mo. He chased her around one day and hit her with his bike helmet because she told him he wasn't very funny. I guess he won that one!
  13. Why do you prefer one over the other? They both look nice.
  14. I have to ask, was Hamer's monkey grip anticipating a Hound Dog Taylor tie-in? Hamer: Ibanez: Hound Dog Taylor:
  15. IIRC The Red Zen is close to the original Robin Ford Zen. The Black Magic Zen is way more gain.
  16. Thanks. But I don't think it would help. I can see what is obvious, and if I pull the chassis out of the box I will get better pics.
  17. The monkey who listed that guitar needs to get a grip 😂
  18. She’s nice but I like the jazzburst at music city better
  19. I hear they have really good weed and hash in the Netherlands. Put down the pipe!
  20. Caught the show in NH, such a great venue. The Mule had a "kick ass" set. Some of my favorite classic Mule tunes. Looking forward to the NYE show in Boston. Joe was also great but personally I was there to see GM. They each joined one another for during their sets which is always cool. That show happened to follow on Jerry Garcia's birthday. Warren paid tribute to Jerry by Warren bringing out his Doug Irwin Eagle and played St.Stephen tease, Patchwork Quilt, Dark Star and Fire On The Mountain. What a great show it was. My first GM show was in 2006 during their High and Mighty tour, I was hooked. At that time Andy Hess was on bass and both Matt Abts and Andy Hess where absolutely locked in. To see what I am referring to as "locked in" check out GM A Tale Of 2 Cities live performances from the Orpheum Theatre Boston and Riviera Theatre Chicago. It's IMO some of GM's grooviest work captured on DVD. Andy Hess parted ways a few years after I think around 2008 when Jorgen Carlsson joined the band. Again IMO I think Andy and Matt had something special and the 2 of them together put down so amazing jams. DIdn't hurt having Danny Lewis on keys and Warren as the front man either.
  21. Ah! Found a Supersonic 22 repair video. Chassis mounted.
  22. I use the Wu Tang Clan name generator for all my passwords. My Wutang name is: Lazy-assed Ninja http://www.mess.be/inickgenwuname.php
  23. What did it sell for in the original auction of Steve Vai's stuff?
  24. You can text the pics to me. I can reduce them for you. PM for my # if you want to.
