  2. Cleaner than Paul's grandfather and just under eight pounds: 1981 Hamer Prototype ALL ORIGINAL made in USA incl. original Case | Reverb It should be obvious there is no affiliation - never even been to Germany, but I hear it's lovely. Extremely reasonable price relative other Prototypes of late. The shipping would kill it for a Stateside deal, but for someone in the area this could work.
  3. According to Sammy's book, Mike was fully aware of what he was doing. Sammy had apparently convinced their manager to have Mike keep his royalties, and when they went to the meeting, the vote was 3-2 to take them away. They came out of the meeting and Sammy ripped into the manager and accused him of double-crossing, and Mike stopped him and said, "He didn't vote for it. I did." Sammy asked him why he'd do that, and Mike said it was because Alex had just gotten divorced and needed the money.
  4. Today
  5. Wow. The Steeler is not exactly a bargain either. 😲 $539.00
  6. I’m in the same situation. Which ones are the excellent ones?
  7. My understanding is that Roth is some sort of blackbelt. Anthony, being a bit portly, was probably intimidated by Roth. It seemed he was also okay not making as much money, possibly because he realized he will never run out of it, unlike the rest of the retards in the band. I loved the band in the beginning as a senior in HS. They were a fun band and each time I saw them was a great time. I never knew what was going on in the background. Seemed like they were living the life. I lost interest after, "Mean Street." In fact, I seem to remember not being too fond of, "Mean Street," when it first came out. I hated the keyboards in, "Jump." It just wasn't VH to me. Then when Hagar joined I had already moved on and he changed the feel of the band anyway. Oh, and there was the one album with the Extreme guy that I totally missed.
  8. How else will they keep the business viable??? 🤔 More posts about the eventual decline of GC... 🙄
  9. MA was treated like a second class citizen by the VHs. Yet, one could argue that he allowed himself to be done so. The original contract was that they shared in all concerts, record sales, songwriting, etc. Split 4 ways. MA voluntarily signed away his rights. He wasn't forced to do so. Shoulda retained an attorney to protect his rights. MA was an important part of VH. Wolfgang was nothing more than a nepo baby.
  10. I have some really early VH boots, and they had their sound in 1974 playing covers. Amazing the dysfunction in personal relationships. MA may not have been a technical bass player, but he delivered the notes needed, and the backing vocals that made the tunes I remember a story told by Jeff Berlin or Holdsworth about Jeff Berlin being offered the bass spot in VH when they toured as a opening act for VH, he declined thinking it would be way too many notes
  11. It's business, and it's all about profit..
  12. Hopefully it won't go wrong, but ultimately, a Private Equity company owns GC. They don't care about it from a musician's perspective, it's solely about money. If this one doesn't think they're making enough from it, they'll somehow saddle the company further behind the 8 ball and sell to another PE firm. I think this CEO has a fairly short leash and he's out doing interviews, etc. but they aren't giving him carte blanche to do whatever it takes to make it how it should be.
  13. Assuming it is factual, That video shows what a class act Mike is. He should have beat Roth’s ass. He willingly signed away his share of some future money rather than side against the VH brothers. They all looked so happy onstage….it was part of the charm. And if this is true, it was BS. They treated Mike so poorly.
  14. Sammy saved the bar in Mexico, and saved VH. Eddie offered to buy out Mikey (of his 25% share) and he told the VH bros to pound sand. Then he got fired. He still gets his mailbox money, so, “winning!”
  15. I remember reading Sammy Hagar writing about how badly Michael Anthony was treated once he was booted in favor of Wolfgang. I don't blame Wolfgang though, as he saw it as a way to actually be with his father and keep him away from alcohol, drugs, etc. But yeah, the interview detailed how Michael Anthony was pretty much reduced to a hired gun, while Alex wasn't, even though arguably his contributions were not much more. All those high harmonies on the records? Michael Anthony. It's amazing how suddenly when there is lots of money people actually start to care more about it. Hagar also talked about how the "rest of the band" didn't understand the Tequila brand, or the bar, or any of the other businesses / investments that Hagar got Van Halen involved in. They just didn't get it. I love Van Halen's music, and Eddie's guitar playing will always be incredible, but 3/4 members of the original Van Halen were pretty substantial assholes.
  16. Yesterday
  17. It's just you. 😄
  18. Look forward to seeing the end product and the report. Is it me or do those Diablo SGs seem to to be begging for a regular or reverse Firebird headstock?
  19. I prefer the underside of upper V point and at the neck heel/ neck/ body joint- just looks cleaner but minimizing neck dive is king, here.
  20. I'd consider putting it on another build. But that's contingent on factors outside of the functions I've already cited. I might see if I can get a Steeler on my SG Diablo. Then I'd have another Swiss army knife utility guitar that could also channel the appropriate vibe for the classic hard rock tunes like AC/DC, Sabs, Alice Cooper, Zep, etc.
  21. Cool, and best of luck with it. ?: strap buttons: upper V point and bass side shoulder, or underside of upper V point and at the neck heel/ neck/ body joint?
  22. Not arguing or trying to convince you. Just saying they’ve had that ability. If it’s the be all end all, will you put it on other guitars or get one of theirs?
  23. You'll never get any better just dreaming your life away, Dave. Practice practice practice.
  24. He must not be very good… 😁
  25. Was just making some menial contributions to finishing it up- installing hardware: tuners, retainer bar, locking nut, etc. This afternoon: trem anchors and posts, killswitch volume pot and strap buttons. Possibly the bridge itself.
  26. On another thread, there was some discussion of the Zelinsky La Voce. Longer discussion, but if someone does have an interest, GC does have a used one at what seems like a pretty fair price (with case upgrade) with the 10% knocked off. FWIW, something less than I paid for mine....
  27. Probably not close enough, but.....I have a pair from a Hamer Vanguard, which I think would make it the late 90s. One is labeled 2NL, but no sticker on the other one. I am assuming it would be a "B" something, but really do not know.
