Steve Haynie Posted August 15, 2007 Posted August 15, 2007 Somehow I think Uncle Greg would be able to bring this one back to a respectable level of presentation.

Dumo Posted August 15, 2007 Posted August 15, 2007 Have you seen more holes in a guitar ! Aack !! They obviously did not use a template when routing. And what's with the dowels in the front corners? Hamer on eBay Isn't that just Gibson-style weight relief?
currypowder Posted August 15, 2007 Posted August 15, 2007 Man, that's nothing. Check out this Japanes LP I had at one time. The seller did not disclose this, claiming he knew nothing about it. However, he had the pickups and all the electronics changed out.
stonge Posted August 15, 2007 Posted August 15, 2007 the wood dowels are there because the back mounting screws for the fender-style hardtail fall right on the edge of the 'routing' for the Kahler. I feel like Quincy doing an autopsy. somebody could patch this and make it better - after seeing that Sunburst with the metal plate on it, anything seems possible (but not on my dime - got enough projects already lol).
cmatthes Posted August 15, 2007 Posted August 15, 2007 Stonge, er, "Quincy" - that's EXCELLENT!! My favorite is "oops"!
ecnal Posted August 15, 2007 Posted August 15, 2007 Well pull your chappy out of the mothballs and post some pics!!!! i'd love to see it! Or sell it to me, per my want ad. I'm starting to think I need to pretend to be a female guitar player to get any attention on this board.

I'm starting to think I need to pretend to be a female guitar player to get any attention on this board. That one was made for Fernando Von Arb of Krokus (his name's on the headstock). It would take a lot of $$ to pry that one out of my hands! All original-note the non-labelled OBLs and the ringed hum OBL!
cmatthes Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 That one is in a video or two as well. Just can't recall which one(s) right now.

BTMN Posted August 17, 2007 Posted August 17, 2007 the wood dowels are there because the back mounting screws for the fender-style hardtail fall right on the edge of the 'routing' for the Kahler. Nice explanation. Thanks.
Guest cruster Posted August 17, 2007 Posted August 17, 2007 Picture snippedI know what that one has, but, I'm thinking you've had both, so Kahler or Floyd? I'm looking at my first "shredder" ever and it has a Kahler of some sort. Not sure what to make of that; anyone else feel free to chime in (PM is cool as it's OT here).
Faust Wurstkotzenhauser Posted August 18, 2007 Posted August 18, 2007 My 1981 Special was a hack job like that and was patched. Not a collector, but a great player! It's do-able...
BubbaVO Posted August 18, 2007 Posted August 18, 2007 For the right price, I don't think that's too bad. But it seems like they are being a little amibitious on the price.
PastorPaul Posted August 18, 2007 Posted August 18, 2007 Stonge - nice work!Faust - nice work, too. That's a credible patch.
