That is a good point, but there was a lot of infighting in the family over the years. Jimi had one brother that he grew up with (Leon) and three other siblings that disappeared into the foster care system. After Jimi died, everything went to his father, and after his father died, Leon got nothing. So the people who now control Jimi's legacy are his cousin and his adopted sister, not his natural brother. All I see when I see Janie is gold digger. That's just me though, and I'm jaded. Also, the idea of Gibson making Fender-type guitars with the Hendrix name on them is insulting, and is another reason I love to see Henry J get raked over the coals.

I'm trying to remember whether I got to here or the HOC first. I think it was here. Then I went to the HOC. Of course, I got my first hamer buying off of the Carvin Museum forums, and then Hamer Addict Russ sent me here. Yep! Came here in August 2009. First started in the HOC in 14 Sep 2009.

You can also get the finish to lift. The woods used are different and shrink and expand at different rates related to temperature and moisture. It's very common to have finish breaks at those kind of areas.

I rarely switch pickups. The only guitar I've swapped out recently was my Hamer Diablo in Aztec gold, because one of the pickups literally died. So I went with two new ones, and have been VERY happy. I do have another guitar that seems to be missing "something", and I keep wondering whether swapping out the stock Schaller pickups for something like Pearly Gates will get the sound I want.

I had a plan for a pedal board, but then it turned into a bass pedalboard, so I have all these pedals just kinda sitting there. Also I have two carvin rack XP4 effects processors, that sound really REALLY good. Sure they aren't as easy to tweak as floor units, but i've found most people with pedals set and forget it, often marking where they like it. The only ones they really tweak are the overdrive pedals, so pretty much ALL of my pedals are OD pedals. I should also add that the XP4 has a KILLER rotary speaker simulator. Now I just need to decide whether to buy a "pre-made" pedal board or try to make something myself.

Just wait until you get to rotary speakers, Then you have controls for the speed and intensity (depth) of the tweeters and woofers.

Earlier set neck Carvin's from the 80s were 24.75 scale. Now they are 25 scale with the neck throughs.

damn. That was a GREAT deal. nice finish, appears to be in great shape, and has that kicking birds eye neck. Only 'down side" is the lack of the original case.

Ahh yes! Now I remember. He used a ton of pinch harmonics to give some hair to the lower notes in Eruption. Seems like he used a lot more pinches during the Van Halen (album) era than he was during the 1984 era. Nothing beats pinch harmonics with divebombs.

Does EVH really use pinch harmonics very much? Usually when I think of a pinch harmonic it's a fretted note where you use your picking hand to create the harmonic. EVH is using full string harmonics on the various nodes on the whole string like at the 4th 5th 12th fret position.

ZZ Top. A lot more judicious use of the pinch than Zakk Wylde. Also I can't stand zakk Wylde's tone on the pinches. It's so unmusical, and he does them so often it just because annoying.

so far, knock on wood, I haven't broken any necks. I come from the Trombone world, so I'm used to thinking of anything that could possibly harm my babies. Trombones are much LESS resistant to things like dents, etc than a guitar, and they are also quite a bit less sturdy.
