I had an Ibanez Tuke King (BK Butler design and made I believe) that would do something like that. I was probably stupid to sell it. Under the right conditions it would squash the note then kinda open up letting the note sing more. Was fun to "play" with that.

So, he makes copies and then sells them? Isn't that illegal or am I missing something?

Gear for sale. BIG list.
ZR replied to bruce919's topic in For Sale - Wanted to Buy - PIF - eBay & Other PSAs
That seems surprising to me on the Monaco. Seems like a cheap price for what you're getting, but then I'm not buying it either. I just can't get over the design by the upper fretboard - the extra wood there. Just doesn't have "the look". I'm sure it's a nice sounding / playing guitar etc. -
Congrats! The pic of the 2 girls dancing is really cool.

Yeah, I can undestand why someone wouldn't like his voice, but I do!

Getting your wife's permission to buy a Hamer
ZR replied to salem's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
I mainly use money from giving guitar lessons and/or gear sales. I'll usually sell a guitar to get a guitar ...that kind of thing. We have 2 kids going to college soon so I don't like to use general household funds unless I really need to. If she ever gives me crap about it I say" So, you've never really ever told me...how much does it cost to do your nails and hair all the time?" Then she changes the subject and we start talking about the weather or something! We've been married for 22 years. This works for us. YMMV -
>>>>>>>>>>I don't know about the rest of you, but I happen to get a wierd thrill out of Eddie self-imploding.>>>>>> You hold up traffic to gawk at every bad accident, don't you?

I don't think you can put that much stock in that one short clip although I have heard /seen other accounts of his demise as of late. I find it sad if this is indeed the case but we all have free will and it's his life...and... Eddie's resume vs. your resume. What have you added to the world of rock guitar and music?

I've been on a huge King's X binge as of late. After I saw them in concert awhile back I bought their whole catalog except for one so far plus some solo stuff from each of them. Some items were bouhgt right from their own website. I also bought an expensive shirt etc. just to support them a little. The latest is Ty Tabor's Rock Garden just released last week. More rocking than his previous stuff but still plenty of harmonies, good melody and of course his good playing. Their drummer, Jerry Gaskill, released a killer solo album which is so much better than I thought it might be. I think it's my favorite album of the year so far, and probably my favorite of their solo albums. Ty Tabor - Homeschool The Demos Vol 1 = Ty's original demos of many of King's X' songs. A volume 2 will also be released. I like listening to those to see how things have changed when the band gets a hold of it. Same thing with the solo albums; it's neat to see what each individual is about and what they bring to the mix of the band.

What kind of amp - tube, solid state? Others will chime in but I believe some (many?) tube amps can handle the mismatch ok as long as the tranny is beefy enough. For instance, I mismatch my Zinky and no problems but I'm not sure a Chinese $99 special could handle it. I believe you don't want to go lower on a solid state amp but going higher on the speaker will just make the amp less loud? See what others say 1st.

Yeah, but whatever you do don't play a Hamer and put Gibson logos on the headstock!! (ref to another thread)

System for objective evaluation of guitars

Yes Matt, but what do you do for a living? What are your credentials? -
I couldn't find that guy on ebay. I mean there was a 100mph guy but it wasn't guitar stuff.

Purty ones to look at, the dirty ones to play with
ZR replied to polara's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Damn, I'll say it...I like Hot Child in the City too!!! I had a '92 Sunburst Archtop Tremelo in what was close to the Slash look sunburst. I thought, man, with the Floyd that will be my dream guitar. It was a nice player and in perfect shape BUT I never really bonded with it. Then I kept it around because it was like artwork on the wall - simply beautiful! In the end, I just didn't feel right about it so I sold it to Rocket Syntist (wherever he went to??). If you're still lurking around here drop me a line. Anyway, I don't deliberatly try to mess my guitars up but some honest bumps and dings are ok with me. That's mainly why I like buying used anyway. That, and I'm too cheap to buy brand new!! -

Steve, That is so good to hear!! As I get older I 've come to appreciate just how important our health is and what a blessing good health is. If there is a strap left and a pot I could use 'em. If not , that's cool. -

Rob from Valvetech explained it to me once but I always forget this stuff....Please explain the Post phase inverter idfference. What were the Valvetech amps? Did the original version start out one way and then he switched it? Thanks for the education!!
