  1. I just got one of these today... http://www.oocities.org/tel_ray/home.html A model 1001 like the 2nd big picture down with 3 knobs across. Tel-Ray also made the similar versions by Fender, Gretsch, Gibson, Rickenbacker etc. That page also explains how the oil can type works. Mine is in great shape except I have to work on getting the little motor working to make the inside thingy spin. It sound good as it is but I can tell from You Tube vids that this can do so much more. Anyone, have one of these or know about them? Tel-Ray later turned into Morley with the same owners.
  2. Thanks to all involved with the change. I like it better than the old board except one thing...it seems too bright for me (that's a lot of white)!!
  3. I use a Godlyke Power-all (and 2 daisy chains)...which might be very similar to the one spot? It's worked fine for the past few years.
  4. oNE OF OUR FAVORITE TRIPS WE'VE EVER TAKEN...damn caps!! Enjoy it!!!
  5. My name comes from the TV show Seinfeld (I probably don't have to say this to most of you...). It was an episode where George's dad was trying to calm down so he was told to say Serenity Now to take it down a few RPM's ...well he quickly would change from trying to be calm while saying it to who he apparently naturally was, a wound up kind of guy, by yelling it at the top of his lungs; SERENITY NOW, SERENITY NOW!! Anyway, I could relate to trying to strive for serenity but only being too human to find it consistently. I was "ZR" before a long while back and that was based on me starting on msg boards back before 14,400k (yes K) dial-up modems were the super fast ones on the block! I started on motorcycle boards and I had a Kawi ZR 750 Zephyr...now I have a Ducati Monster...which I just bent both rims on yesterday!! : (
  6. I saw Doug Aldrich playing with Dio (RIP) and he rocked it that night! Doug should be a good fit.
  7. My fav is Slide It In. I saw them on tour with John Sykes and they really rocked. Saw Dio that night as well with one of my fav guitarist Vivian Campbell.
  8. Very cool stuff indeed! I'll try to tune in. Man, that's BS about the kids parents and their lame excuses!
  9. Very inspired and cool. That must have been a lot of work!
  10. Yeah, my wife and daughter's like DT...OK probably not in the same way I do, but they really liked A Change of Seasons and Scenes from a Memory a lot. In their case I'd say I'm not sure they'd notice a drummer change but they aren't your typical DT fan. DT will get some awesome drummer and they'll continue on. I haven't been as much of a fanboy of theirs since Awake and Images and Words (even Falling into Infinity -my 1st CD of theirs- and Scenes)...they seem somewhat boring to me now. I just couldn't get into their latest stuff. Nevertheless I still have the utmost respect for all of them - great musicians all. IMHO, (in a drummers sense Not team leader etc.) Dt losing Mike is not the same as Rush losing Peart. I can picture other drummers playing DT music but can't picture Rush w/o Peart.
  11. I love Dream Theater but their older stuff is much better. I wish them all luck in the future but it did sound a little sactimonious and I don't even know the actual definition of that word!! ; ) ...but I just came back from the Irish pub and helped drink 4 pitchers! ; )
  12. Here's my take, YMMV. To me, if the oil has the proper high rating (that little circular label with numbers in it) then I'm OK with it. I do use more expensive Mobil 1 100% synthetic in my motorcycle but the oil in a bike does double duty in engine and transmission/clutch. In principle, I'd like to believe that spending more money on name brand oil is getting me a better product but I just don't know. I always ask myself just how many cars did I have to get rid of, or blew up on me because I didn't use just the right oil or change my oil in exactly every 3000 miles? It's usually other things; transmission, electronics etc. that become such a problem that forces someone to want to get rid of their car. I usually run Mobil 1 through a car / truck a few times, or even every now and then, then back to regular cheaper stuff. They say that doing that gets you a lot of the advantages of the 100% synthetic w/o the extra expense doing it every oil change, because even as the oil is drained a lot of the synthetic lubricant film stays behind coated on your engine parts. As usual, if you look on the net you'll find a million arguments for every side. You just need to find what you feel comfortable with and go with it.
  13. I'm not into graphics much but I do like how transluscent looking your snakeskin looks! I agree with you on most your points but your guitar is actually a setneck variety not neck-thru. The neck stops near the neck pickup, it does not continue through all the pickups. The knob/switch placement seems normal to me for a 25.5" scale Chap. I can't see from the picks clearly but I think your FR is not routed for high pitch pulls like most are. I wonder if that was to accomadate the graphic finish? Obviously, the finish is what puts it over the top. Nice one!
  14. I have a set of these P-rails and I really like 'em! The humbucker tones are said to be more Dimarzio style than typical Seymour Duncan. These go great with a pair of SD Tripleshot pickup rings! A wide variety of tones that way!
  15. Interesting thanks! Great link. After that tour they continued using PODS onstage but it also mentions going to various amps as well; Marshall Sl-x, JCM 2000 and the 30th Anniversary amps...then the details fade out after 2003 (at least on that site).
  16. I can only hear what's behind me. Am I doing something wrong?
  17. Great place! Good food! We stayed at the Vendue Inn for a previous Anniversary trip. Please PM or Email me! Thanks!
  18. Happy B-day! PM or Email me!
  19. Yeah, but where to get a hat like that? It must be the hat! Z Love his playing but he does look kind of like a Spanish-style, old-school Tampa Bay Buccaneer (not that there's anything wrong with that)!! Check out his newer stuff like Metamophisis...or something like that. Very awesome playing.
  20. Good point. He should have worn a baseball style cap all the time like Mathias Jabs does! Or, go bald like everyone else does now! For the record I love Jabs, and Riot was one of my favorites from that era...Swords and Tequila! We use to play about 2 or 3 covers of theirs. I also liked the basic, non over produced sound of their albums. Maybe a little Spinal Tappish but I really liked Krokus. The first few albums were just like AC/DC then they developed a more metal style. Great chord and solo work on Midnight Maniac. Loved old Motley Crue, Accept but Udo's voice may take some getting use to! Saxon. Something a little different would be Tygers of Pan Tang - John Sykes played with them awhile, more proggy would be Dream Theater. My favorite Scorpions albums = Animal Magnetism, Lovedrive, and Blackout - before that was more organic and after that was more poppish, but I liked it all. Getting MSG's first few albums (esp. the 1st two) is always a good thing. Although more of a hard rock band to me, Y&T's albums are great such as Earthshaker and Black Tiger (they get kinda poppy on parts of that one but still rock). And, some great guitar work on Loudness albums - some may not like the ESL/ Japanese voice. The guitarist, Akira, is very derivative of VH1 style but really comes into his own as the albums progress.
  21. It seems legal to sell cd's ...what about music software? You have used record/cd stores so how is it (or IS it?) different from selling music software? If I have an old recording program I don't use anymore could I legally sell it? Could I buy someones old drum program? Please enlighten me. Thanks!!
  22. They aren't popular because they are useless. How many songs do you know that use those frets? I am sure they can be used for original music, but they have a very limited use. I never saw that 29 fret slant edge Washburn someone posted this week before...pretty cool. Not necessary but cool nevertheless!
  23. Man, that Grand Ol' Opry pic makes me depressed and I'm not even a huge fan. It's such an American thing and I know it means so much to others. Just sad. Looks like it'll be a big loss of music history and awesome gear...
  24. Wow, much worse than I thought. Good luck to all in recovering/getting your lives back together.
