  1. Screw pictures of you. Post pictures of her! Weston is the tastiest playa on this board. Ol' girl is about to find that out.
  2. You shoulda spent more time stepping on the Tim and less time stepping on the accelerator! lol Great pedal guys. I love mine. Avoid the wait and buy Jake's!
  3. Please don't use the word "shattered" when talking about an overseas guitar deal lol. Cool that Mindseyes hooked you up. Enjoy!
  4. That is a great CD. My wife won't give my copy back to me.
  5. Yeah, why can't Bruce turn 50 every year?
  6. The go-to setup: VAC 50 (EL34s) into Bogner 2x12 (G12H30s):
  7. You would be correct about that. Welcome!
  8. Their Talking Heads cover "Memories Can't Wait" is BLAZIN'! "Desperate People" and "Middle Man" ain't too shabby either. "Glamour Boys" is their only worthless song IMO. Has Mick Jagger's "Let's Work" influence all over it.
  9. That album was a revelation for me, a huge breath of fresh air amid some serious crap, especially in the hard rock world. Vernon Reid can do no wrong in my book.
  10. Ya gotta start somewhere. I just lined up an interview at Playboy for a kid who used to work for me at the cafe. Entry level video editing, $8 an hour. He's all about it. Of course, he just got out of college and is still living at home, so he can deal with that salary level. Near-minimum wage jobs are for people like him, not folks with families to support. It also helps if the place of employment is perceived as cool and there's opportunity for advancement.
  11. I've never seen an import Cali with the natural wood stripe along the bottom of the headstock.
  12. ^^^ Knew those were comin' lol.
  13. I seem to recall "Day Tripper" and "The Sound of Silence" being in the set. In fact, that may have been the entire set. I'm sure listeners craved the sound of silence when we were through.
  14. Yep! Black t-shirt and jeans, too! No green sweatbands though:
  15. Oddly, the Kay I had was done up in a wooden box motif. Crate had gone to a conventional look by the time I got mine. BTW that Hondo had a string-thru bridge, positively Sustain Block-esque! I wish I still had that guitar.
  16. Yeah me too. It's perfect for something like this. The showcase room would be cool for an HFC jam. I'm just not of the mind to organize something like that this year.
  17. Yes, anyone can attend, and a homebrew would be great! Right now we're going back and forth between Saturday August 16 and Saturday August 23 at Superior Street Studios in Chicago. We'll pick one of those two dates for sure by the end of the week. Link to the facility: http://www.superiorst.com
  18. It ain't easy putting one of these things together. I'm helping organize a Chicago AmpFest in August for the Harmony Central Amp Forum and also The Gear Page. Getting a lot of last-minute dropouts because of weddings and whatnot. People, especially adults, just can't commit to something like this more than a couple weeks in advance. Gas prices aren't helping, either.
  19. If memory serves, it was a Kay. Soon afterward I upgraded to a Crate CR112.
  20. So my old friend and very first drummer found me on Facebook and sent me this pic: I guess you could call us an organ trio lol. We were "hired" to play at an outdoor party of some sort. My mom named the band by combining the first two letters of my last name, the first two letters of the keyboardist's last name, and the first three letters of the drummer's last name. Pretty clever, until she ruined it by getting us matching shirts with the band name on them. We were mortified! I'm guessing this was in '81 or '82. That there is my first electric, a double-cut Hondo II. Note the stock coil-tap switch between the volume and tone knobs. I added the "rhythm/treble" pickup selector ring myself. Kind of a cool guitar, actually! As you can see, we performed on the second floor balcony of the drummer's parents' house to keep the throngs of adoring fans at bay. Boy I've lost a lot of hair follicles and gained a lot of pounds since then.
  21. You would too if you ever met his wife. She busted up my van at the last Midwest Jam, and as far as I could tell I didn't do anything to piss her off!
  22. Happy birthday! Treat yourself to some boutique gear for a change!
  23. Who knew Ervin would be as hardcore about receiving confirmations via PM or e-mail as he is about the various stipulations in his FS threads? Not really sure how else he came to the conclusion that there was no interest in this thing. Oh well. There's always the Open House. Oh wait ....
  24. Incessant ballbusting aside, you've got positive vibes from me.
