.....uh ...6 months?!??!?!? is that right? I can't get more than 2 weeks out of anything other than the coated strings (elixir etc...). and even those I have to change after 3... Wow. I can't imagine not changing strings for 6 months. How does he do it?

Yeah I custom ordered mine that summer ('87) I think all told it was like $900 - 950. I don't recall the Gibson...but I tried a Black SS he had there and a Red TLE. I almost went with the SS ...but I ended up ordering the Chap from Hamer, so I could get the color and the OBL. Is Jim still around? I heard he'd had some heart issues. (I actually went to school with Jim Jr...He & Nuno Bettencourt used to hang out there and teach each other VH tunes, ....ahhh the old days)

I see your point. (and yes all my Hamers are pretty much...'shredders'). But still ... And to clarify, my answer to the original question is: I think PRSs are awesome guitars

I think most PRSs are awesome guitars. But ....I have 13 Hamers, and the most I paid for any of them was I think like $650. Most were in the $300-400 range ...so ...I dunno... I think of the 13 Hamers, I'd say about 5 of them are at least as good any PRS I've ever tried. (trying to re think ...what is my point? ...) I guess I think most Hamers are just as good (or real close, and in some cases better) than PRSs and I've typically piad about half for them. - Bill

listening to it ...the guitar is messed up. If it was off by a half tone, he could have transposed ... but it was totally off, not even in tune with itself (although that could have been his attempt to tune it manually at the beginning that caused that, I suppose). Why he didn't switch to another guitar is beyond me....

It's nice not to have to shower (mostly to get the smell of smoke off) before getting into bed at 4 am ( although the BO is bad - the smoke was much, much worse) But where we used to play the fog machines were just as bad if not worse IMHO than the smokers. Except at the NorthStar in Rochester. Talk about Blue air....my eyes would sting it was so smokey in there. We simply told our bookie not to book us back there. To me the audience has dipped - especially since it's city/county related (i.e. the audiences go to where they can smoke, next town over, next county over etc...). With the state wide ban - I think they're levelling the playing field so I think it's a good step (despite the fact that it is govt telling us how to live our lives). Wait - I forgot, I'm retired from gigging, so take it with a grain ....;-)
