  1. is that a drop D lever on the white one?
  2. too rare, I was just thinking of the story where the guy found one locally at a garage sale or something for ridiculously cheap, was it a 5 string for $300? - quite a while ago as I recall, that story keeps me going to garage sales
  3. I can tell you from experience, that if you want prices close to what you see on Reverb, you're going to have to research, list, pack ship. Otherwise take a pretty big discount if hoping for local sales, even if you live in a well populated area. I 'flip' quite a bit locally, and I'm going to have to start selling the more unique higher priced stuff online, local markets just don't support better stuff, probably a 30-40% discount for the better more unique pieces selling locally, which would include all Hamers, and then half the time you're selling locally to a reseller and it will be up on Reverb in a few hours. The good news is, I'm told you can buy decent shipping boxes in bulk off amazon for pretty cheap nowadays.
  4. "where's Simon??" (check the first photo again)
  5. Alex's pedal board, I spoke to him very very briefly after, he's using both the Rat and the mini TS9 for 'dirt', Rat drive set pretty low. Kind of a 'messy' pre show stage
  6. well worth seeing if you're into that Fusion sort of thing, at Jazz Alley Seattle. Alex is still into the Keisel headless, Earnest with an Xotic 5 string. I bought a cd after, expecting to get Simon to sign it like last time, but a pretty large crowd was waiting around, many more people hanging around after than last time we saw them about a year ago. My wife had a clear view of the setlist on the stage, there were 4 songs left when they ended, - Simon must have gotten carried away during the drum solo and ran out of time, I assume the staff doesn't like to have to stay late due to encores. If you're not familiar with his solo work (you've certainly heard him with other bands), the album "Protocol ii" would be a good place to start, Andy Timmons is in fine form on that one.
  7. no affiliation, but I have one a lot like it, and it's outstanding. I want this one too, but I've been finding too many good deals locally. You can pay more if you buy through Rvrb, Nice flame top, supposedly in excellent condtion, $750, I have no idea how much shipping would be https://guitarpickersaz.com/product/peavey-usa-ltd-st/
  8. How complicated do you want it to be?, how much programming do you want to do on a computer screen? I'm in the 'as little programming/tweaking' as possible, and I'm pretty happy with the Tech21 RK fly rig: I have it on a pedal board, with a Wampler plexi drive deluxe in front, and a mxr chorus pedal after the 1/4 out (di to the house, mxr chorus to the amp. My band leader uses the regular Fly Rig just as an IR, with the 'blonde' (amp simulator) turned on, and nothing else, just as a DI/IR 'amp simulator' after his pedalboard. I had a Nu-x Amp Academy pedal, it was pretty cool: switch between two different amp models, each with an A/B, so you could have 4 sounds out of one pedal. It was more programming than I wanted to do, and I'd have to add a delay into the loop (trs/Y cable needed), which would not have been a big deal. I had it while having the Fly Rigs (I've got both the regular and the RK) and I kept reaching for the Fly Rig, so sold the Nu-x. It took months to sell the Nu-x for $80 on FB marketplace, - that Nu-x stuff is a super bargain. The Strymon Iridium looks cool, but doesn't have an xlr out, which seems weird. The Nu-x nss-5 (Solid Studio) looks pretty similar to the iridium, but has an xlr out, and is much lower cost. That might be more of what you're thinking of? link to one fs on reverb: https://reverb.com/item/84791646-nux-solid-studio-i-r-and-power-amp-simulator-pedal?bk=
  9. I've been using his signature Fly Rig, it covers a lot of ground, takes a dirt pedal in front quite well too
  10. I think it's supposed to be a mid-pass filter?, mine seems to do nothing, but maybe that just my ears. Down is probably 'neutral', as it should require a battery to make something brighter than it already is?
  11. serial number in the same spot, same tuners too
  12. bridge looks like a european (?) "Boston T-350 G". The overall build quality is looking 'affordable import'
  13. At first glance I thought "cheap import off aliexpress", but brass nut, T top Grovers. Possibly made or assembled in Nevada by Dan Linn? Neck through, coil tap on the volume knob, I haven't taken the pickups off yet, fretboard looks ebony. Any of y'all know about these?
  14. and I just figured out a new F chord workaround!
  15. this is as far as I've got in my '59 LP build (real/vintage no-wire ABR 1)
  16. When I've done it, it's like the 'surface tension' sort of draws it in.
  17. maybe consider sending it to Joe for fixing?, I imagine he would be quite capable of taking care of that (totally legit guy, lives about a mile from me)
  18. I think it used to be that you would make a pinhole with a tiny drillbit (on both ends of the itis?) and use water thin superglue, NOT gel. - Wait for more responses before starting work, and don't build your confidence with adult beverages beforehand!
  19. As a parody, Josh Scott should announce his 'notafart' pedal, pre-order today! I have a BadCat Double Drive, which is supposedly 2 Klons in one pedal. I really want to like it, it looks so cool, but so far it's not bonding.
  20. I bought a silverface silver trim BMR head from a guy for $45, around '88. He had no idea if it worked or not; it worked perfectly without any service for the 8-10 years I owned it, until I stupidly sold it for treefitty ish. I think the others are just overpriced, the ones with collectible value sound great, but really aren't any 'better' than many-many modern builds, and I say that as the owner of a 'grail' combo. The ampeg B25 is a 'sleeper', I'd love to a/b one with a Bandmaster. No spring reverb on the B25, but I don't play surf.
  21. It's always a good move to compare the spouse to the wife of a foreign dictator
  22. I'm guessing it might give an acoustic a more Taylor-ish sound, which is desirable to many, and should be easy to "tone down"? The Eart headless I got on the weekend has them, so I've had two low price guitars with ss frets now, so smooth, and a little 'bright' sounding I think I would like them on most basses
  23. I had a lower price guitar recently with stainless frets, it sounded a bit 'jangly' and maybe a bit bright? A friend is going to get a refret on his wonderful sounding Larrivee acoustic and considering stainless frets because this guitar gets a lot of use, but messing with the tone is not something he wants to do.
