Some of the stupid cheap stuff is really playable, it's great to have something cheap that you can actually play and don't have to worry about. I'm wondering if there will be any ridiculously cheap Black Friday deals. I might be tempted beyond what I can bear if something like an IYV jr gets even cheaper. One of the good Indonesian or Vietnamese builders would be wise to make a copy of a standard, especially given what Korean examples seem to be selling for, - Firefly or IYV should just make Standard cases to start with!

didn't all the OEM OBL's have writing on them?

given the subtle differences between some of the tech 21 stuff I've compared, and that a Marshall is "just a modded bassman", along with how much I like the Plexi Deluxe, my guess is you'd be pretty satisfied with the blonde, - but more pedals = more fun too... Since this thread is still going, here's a serving suggestion: I used the Liverpool as the B channel DI, I think it worked pretty well. Pretty funny that I owned zero of this gear 1 year ago. First in line is a JHS Morning Glory, the white pedal is a TC Elec Mimiq. A bunch of money was spent on a rewire and new sound board, and there's a lot less noise in the house, I was able to use the plug in power supply and the Joyo battery was just in case there was too much noise plugging into house power. The Vox Pathfinder is just for my personal monitor, and it works great for that.

Cool Guitar Alert - Heritage Ascent+ H-137
Jimbilly replied to santellavision's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
for low price imports, you're probably getting Cort if it's from Indonesia, and IYV if it's Vietnam?, who knows if it's from China? so the brand name isn't all that important (with the exception of PRS, which from the Philip McKnight video has it's own shop/building at Cort). Based on my experience with two from Amazon (an Eart and a IYV) I would lean towards trying an IYV off Amazon, those are just crazy cheap (Leo Jaymz get similar reviews at that stupid cheap price point, but I haven't tried any of those). I read someplace that IYV makes Harley Benton, I had one of those last spring (HSS, ss frets, decent bridge, locking tuners) I liked it. I actually like and play the <$300 fan fret headless IYV 5 string bass I bought a few months ago, I've showed it to a couple of other local solid players and they agreed that it is actually kind of good. Keep the packaging and send it back if you get a bad one. -
PSA Tilting Amp Stand
Jimbilly replied to Pieman's topic in For Sale - Wanted to Buy - PIF - eBay & Other PSAs
I have an early version of that one where the uppler L parts don't fold down, it does take up quite a bit of space and stays home most of the time. I bought a $10 folding tiny one from sweetwater, and usually wedge/lean the small amp up against a wall or fake potted plant. -
PSA Tilting Amp Stand
Jimbilly replied to Pieman's topic in For Sale - Wanted to Buy - PIF - eBay & Other PSAs
that's pretty neat, I had imagined something sort of like that but just out of wood, and from looking at his photos: you could make one with 3 pieces of wood and no fasteners: the sides would be similar shape, if a bottom connector piece was cut correctly it would have cutouts that slide into cutouts in the side pieces and the weight of the amp on the connector piece would keep it all together. I'll ask my 92 year old dad to make me one! - he'll even paint it green for me like he does to everything he makes. Of course the downside to having 3 pieces and no fasteners is the inevitable "where's that missing piece?" moment. -
I get several hours out of one like this, super handy to have around https://www.amazon.com/JOYO-4400mAh-Rechargeable-Battery-Outputs/dp/B0871RLGH3/ref=sr_1_5?adgrpid=183284765941&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.Itu-2HEDVtVjXm52hTOk0Va-dDzsKcPxoNZkfsoEs0gvO5OcLdksa-BgMQPLVSjSjBCWIvBkVYNCS_SdROwGm6VroOzH8T-gCam3Tp8j0f79hUsMFw-H64B1EpFwksOGgrU0YF4vibXk5mLM9nYb8WOEZRtnCfYw4GXr6x9EOYazdndkesDNRCGFjJr1ByIcDyAXEgRlpkLNH5LVEWkBSsN9ARL0BJCDmSbslamsTI8zMV8urUS9qPoq6WEc6yumIyPOZriTGpKVlNvwUGjRk6Si67DEDAFDCzWLqgA4cDM.xplUFoDTkpnEEpapyFtyRonzZvOCIZM51ZZPsfosHRE&dib_tag=se&hvadid=779606185117&hvdev=c&hvexpln=0&hvlocphy=9033482&hvnetw=g&hvocijid=5407482773586929371--&hvqmt=e&hvrand=5407482773586929371&hvtargid=kwd-374387947139&hydadcr=29648_14958190_21474&keywords=joyo%2Bpedal%2Bpower%2Bsupply&mcid=66aea9f6531331899aabbca0b3826d85&qid=1762643765&sr=8-5&th=1

I have the same RK5, and I feel similarly about the built in 'omg' OD, I typically use some other lowish gain OD pedal into the input of the RK5 (I think the Flyrigs are unfairly judged based on the OD section as being not 'optional', but that's another rant). I'll piece this together soon, my 'stereo' pedalboard: I also just yesterday got a TC Electronic Mimiq, I plan to use that after the RK5 into the Character pedal for a subtle left/right separation, more subtle than a chorus pedal. I'll report later on that

the Super Distortion came with this guitar when I bought it in '02, I don't recall where I got the the currently installed PAF, but I might have bought from someone here. The SD hasn't been in it for a long time, and I've been meaning to re-install it. I have two '80s Ibanez with the V-2 (super distortion clone?) at the bridge, I like those. Has anyone here A/B'd the V2 and the SD?

the Leo Jaymz $199 headless guitar on amazon
Jimbilly replied to Jimbilly's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
probably in the works -
This one just recently got a solid review from one of the youtube reviewers, the youtube guy is kind of irritating, so I hesitate to post the link. I like the Eart I got last spring for $319, if I didn't have the Eart I'd probably buy one of these for a 'couch guitar', I use the Eart for that, and haul it along for backup or to use as the demo guitar if I'm selling an amp or pedal, which is very handy. It looks like it has a standard Floyd type locking nut, and my IYV bass (that I really like) has similar tensioner/tuners at the bridge. Scratch that headless itch for $199. https://www.amazon.com/Leo-Jaymz-Fingerboard-Stainless-Round-Fret/dp/B0F7L7VCMX/ref=sr_1_32_sspa?dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.3dBEHQ3ZIg_YhShPtNahOiF24UK-ok3MA7yDvFMl_efwZSNKRGs-QZMzBMRvRZ6zAEvLRaYX71gSWqoFxgtwjoXp_QM0aVVMtzSBexuCQq-MTUbOIExxjlt0mypRh-HOZybYr1GPX20kJKzQVbXiOyWkZFcwdwibSQFXVHhmES5feIlAk9AJkUen1tqIFgFnNA-pp9zw94Rs_sNSv28L2QZuFLiuOGJZPRBS9a7T-UAAaoLStCsFoM00EhyJfaVew3M9xaWVLT7qV7EmbeeMmM8CdTqKzXRDviZ_QPl6gvk.LVDiYibcmfoFgBjuBCX8gr24WZSAkZzafWOrghkHDbU&dib_tag=se&keywords=leo%2Bjaymz&qid=1762368176&s=musical-instruments&sr=1-32-spons&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9idGY&th=1

PSA Steve Stevens II on CL Bay Area
Jimbilly replied to Eli's topic in For Sale - Wanted to Buy - PIF - eBay & Other PSAs
ooh! and a Custom too! "amber" color? I have one similar in Copper, which is corroding where the clear coat has been broken allowing air to the copper. Super cool guitar, I hope someone here gets it, and puts the right knobs back on. -

Correct me if I'm wrong: there doesn't seem to be many choices for a simple amp simulator di box with xlr & 1/4" outs (1/4" for send to your stage amp) and an output volume control. Even with the Strymon Iridium you have to add a di box, not building that with an xlr out seems like a design oversight. I had a Nux Amp Academy for a while, but I worry about losing a preset, or not knowing which preset I'm actually on without having to link to a screen, while trying to setup my 'stage rig' (while typically in a rush).
