Funny that this post just came up. Just yesterday I remembered that copies of Lets Active's "Cypress/Afoot" cd were selling in the $175-200 range a couple of years back. With iTunes, etc, I didn't need to hold on to my copy THAT badly. Unfortunately for me, it's since been re-released and is all over the place for $10-15. Oh well!

I've owned a few celeb guitars-not as many as some here have/do. For 80s stuff, I'm pretty much down to a Kip Winger prototype bass, an Elliot Easton guitar, and a Krokus guitar, but those aren't for sale! No Styx-closest I came to that was a Jack Blades bass.

There is at least one out there. As for playability, that's not so much the problem. They're not as well-balanced as Standards and can be neck heavy. My Gibson is a feather with a huge neck (perfect), but the headstock is so long that it can nose-dive w/o the right strap. Still, I love that thing.

I wouldn't think of 1999-2009 as Paul Weller's "classic" period, although I really like a lot of stuff (very much) off of his last album. He was Vox and Ricks with the Jam pretty much exclusively, I thought.

Agreed. Probably wouldn't get $350-375 for it on the open market today, but it's probably a very good playing/sounding bass. Most of these are and are well-made. Personally, for a Hamer bolt-on, I'd spend an extra $50-100 and get a newer second-generation Cruisebass. Those are out of sight.

Chaps were usually long scale. Also need to know if it's bolt or set neck.

I keep my Historic R 4 in one. I don't use the case it came in because the handle is missing a rivet. Arch top.

Zebra looks like the stripes on a...zebra! Zulu is an African-esqe random black geometric blobs over a color or colors.

Depends on which one, I suppose. I am not familiar with many of them, but I won one in a drawing at BCR a few years back and the guitar (a double cut bolt on) is surprisingly good. I could take it out to gig with with little hesitation at all. Plays great, sounds good and stays in tune really well. Not sure what model mine is, but it's all black with black hardware. Nice guitar for a couple hundred bux, even better when it's FREE!!

They still make/sell those?! I bought a killer '75 Ibanez Destroyer from Freedom Guitar in the 90s. Wish I still had that one, but it funded a big chunk of #0017.

They're silly easy to install and remove. They do look like they take up more real estate than they do-I got one from Steve (THANKS AGAIN!!) and installed it on my Electraglide II. It doesn't do dramatic Floyd Rose stuff, but it definitely drops a good bit more than a Bigsby or a Jazzmaster-style trem. Definitely worth looking into. As for only clean ones being for sale-you'll probably also notice that there aren't that many for sale at any given time. There are a bunch that DO get used, I'm sure. Nice trem.

Both Paul Hamer and Tom Holmes mentioned that to me- something to do with Holmes making his own jigs and Ma Pearl (sp?) doing the crown inlaid fingerboards offsite and there being a compatibility issue. I'd have to look through my interview materials for the whole story.
