yeah a little disconcerting... just bought a GC string club card I joked that the last time I bought one (Daddy's) it didn't work out that well... and the guy was like "oh were fine". I would be careful with layways and would not consign a guitar with a retailer right now. I'm sure Gibson had a heavy inventory, and even tho they're blowing stuff out at cost or below...it's probably good for them from an inventory end of year standpoint. anyone selling a used LP for $1800 on craigslist gets screwed, but hey honestly, for a good couple years, there's been people asking retail on craigslist, and I'm not sure it's realistic, I think you need to be really careful and make sure you get good deals on purchases.

These sam ash deals are crazy. just picked up a traditional mahogany les paul for $1150 delivered. I also got 5% cashback with using a mr rebates link, so it came to$1093. I had bought the custom classic, but am returning it, I just thought that while more blingy, it seemed kind of cheap in terms of build quality fretboard, cheap inlays etc... it came across as a $1500 les paul copy. liked the woody feel of the mahogany better a couple tips If you have a DISCOVER card, check with them first, one of their plans has a special promotion this month for 5% cashback, not all cards qualify mine didn't, they could have switched me, but it would have taken a couple weeks... worth a 5 minute phone call. mr rebates referral link, it's like a bing cashback thing, basically you register and then click on them before going to sam ash, also have cashback deals with GC, musicians friend, music 123 etc... most of the rebates are around 5%, the only exception I saw with sam was apple products... http://www.mrrebates.com?refid=459517

yes, concur with frankie... I purchased it from the original owner. never opened them up to look under the rings. i will add, the top is nice in person, really nice figure from all angles but you can probably see that from the pics. -
That's very cool, alot of people had been building their own... can't tell the finish, but it would be nice if it had a nice thin finish like the highways and road worns the humbucker tele looks cool too, will have to check that out

PSA: 1980 Sunburst in Boston area
DaveL replied to Rebeka's topic in For Sale - Wanted to Buy - PIF - eBay & Other PSAs
Other than the ugly patch, the major rash, the "painted" headstock, the non original bridge, and the big chip on the back of the neck, I'm REALLY liking it!!! -
Mickey Thomas? John Oates? or Bababooey. you decide..

I had to age a tele pickguard... I got rid of the gloss with some 800 grit, then hit it with my keys in spots... then went over it with meguiars and one of these (fits on your drill) gotta be real careful with it though. burn thru and the drill slipping http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Finishing_supplies/Abrasives,_polishes,_buffers/Foam_Polishing_Pad.html

60 minutes? what did they do? money laundering? racketeering? or was it something really bad, like tryin to pick up young chicks when your 60?

looks cool. is that the standard headstock or did they tweak the shape on this one?

Michael Anthony's backups are MISSING, he was the secret ingredient to every one of those awesome VH tunes.

actually, if you check on their facebook page, candi, the daddy's people are updating regularly and are working to get all the repair items back to their owners,

had a nice talk with a local competitor tonight, who by no means thought it a joyous occasion. one of the comments was that he felt Daddy's had a weak web presence given the size and rescources it had and #2, the low trade in values offered by daddys were a frequent complaint among his customers over the years. (which I would confirm first hand He also felt there would be opportunities for other stores to step up and fill the voids in the various areas, Music Mill in Manchester, NH for example, who has actually been growing in a down market.

One of the best days ever was getting my license and taking a road trip with my friend to the Salem store and saw an Ibanez flying V on the wall. the second best day was one day walking in and seeing a Hamer special, hanging on the wall for $199... OHSC too. Frank Rindone was one of the salesmen in that store. I had a good relationship with Bob who was the Manchester store manager for a while, He found me a mint standard custom elliot easton's lefty firebird and a rare flametop eclipe. I think my best deal might have been an early cunneto mary K relic strat for $899, probably worth 3 grand right now. and a 70's fender jazz bass neck for $5 (nashua store opening auction in 1981) Definitely agree with the "decline" comment. About a year ago, my buddy and I started wondering what was going on with them. The quality of inventory went way down, they carried alot of imported stuff and it seemed to really degrade over the last year or so... Something ugly must have happened to not even have s store closing sale.

It isn't just the Hamers, they have 223 auctions running now with everything from Breedlove acoustics to Fender and Dean. Kind of odd given they have such a well-organized web site with all of the same information / photos. The music zoo crushes with both a great web site and crossposting to ebay... good business if you ask me, especially with the photography skills these guys both have -
RIP Former Motorhead guitarist Wurzel
DaveL replied to Scottcrud's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
don't get me wrong, I love classic motorhead... but the the wurzel/phil campbell era (killed by death, orgasmatron, rock and roll R-A-M-O-N-E-S) was really productive and some of their best stuff. RIP. -
