  1. my coolest one... 2012 premium plus given the slash treatment with 50's wiring and alnico pro II's currently my #1 2nd coolest... 1978 Mockingbird some non original parts and I restored it close to the way it should be (possibly for sale soon, <---mild plug) craigslist Boston score, got it, played it for a while then realized I can barely deal with 4 strings never mind 8... passed on to a happy HFCer...
  2. some of the premium tops are starting to get plucked from sweetwater.... however I thought this one was pretty cool edit: someone just got it. http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/LPSAAHYCH-13/sn107230478
  3. What he said. I think the word for it around here is "Hameritis". and another thing... makes it tougher to swap the nut out if some dork uses the wrong file and overly widens the g string
  4. I once fixed one by taking a jewelers screwdriver and tweaking the contact inside the barrel... personally, I don't like them... not sure why Hamer was so loyal to what is a $2.00 part. maybe cos it was a $2.00 part.
  5. pics of the Newport would be cool if you have them.
  6. not sure what you meant in the first line? but will say this, sometimes when someone makes a low offer and there's a large spread which sounds like it was a lot given that he came up $100 I just politely decline. The guy probably won't be happy because he views it as having a lower value already.
  7. absolutely... and I think he may have been the quiet puppet master behind the whole thing... but while I think there were a few things happening in harmony with that band, the boat doesn't float without slash's phenomenal playing both lead and rhythm... and while the joe perry project, I've got the rock and rolls again is a top 12 desert island disc, think slash might not have needed a ghost player on train. of course he would have been 5 years old at the time but let that go.
  8. not into it... ok talent but the song isn't that great and the imagery (out on the edge in NYC) is ridiculous... metallers complain about Kurt Cobain but I think it's a function of having A level bands ex: Scorpions (awesome), B level bands Great White Lita Ford (ok) and then a lot of C and D level bands (can you say Odin! Odin! Odin!???) that didn't deserve a major label contract and it killed the industry.
  9. wow, that's very cool, nice retro design.
  10. I think the workmanship is nice... if you ever open the back, they have little countersunk standoffs under the backplate... and the wiring is nice and clean... just never thought that workmanship transferred over when you plug the guitar in. probably the pickups, but I also think it's the combinations of wood, and maybe some of the designs...I just find them very sterile, not warm at all... also, they sell direct, which I think they don't get feedback from retail about stuff, like their pickups are awful... but I'm sure its a profit center for them or else they wouldn't keep doing it. .
  11. got it yesterday, havent read it all the way thru yet but did jump to the end... very impressed with the layout and quality of the photography. I think it's something that anybody associated with Hamer Guitars can be proud of.
  12. mine arrives tomorrow.
  13. this riff changed my life... my brother's friend, who was in high school and already fronting a wedding band did a spot on cover of this tune at the school talent show... 79-80 wow, just f-ing wow love the gum chewiing, nice touch...
  14. I think if you can take great shots like this dude (although I would lose the wrinkled satin sheet) it's basically free advertising which drives people to your site.
  15. Agreed. And you can pick one up right here! too late...
  16. actually, the dean forum does have a for sale board... you can find some nice stuff there... I'm partial to the time capsules (reissues) cos they haven't had enough time to have nasty fretwear or been buggered with... not really into that transition era (1990's) stuff. although some of those nicely aged late 70's early 80's ones with the original pickups are pretty cool if you can find them
  17. what about a book release party? think you'd get a nice following... preferably on a weekend with the red sox in Baltimore
  18. I would have to say that early ufo album, the one with the studio version of doctor doctor didn't last very lone on my turntable... but yeah, I second the thought, band, performance, and the songs...
  19. ordered one...
  20. It's probably too late, but that's an EXCELLENT idea! yeah, that would be great... onto something here
  21. put me in for a signed one, you should sign a bunch and number them or something... My kid is into cards and memorabilia. People just go nuts when have some sort of limited run or special inscription...
  22. You could probably find one on craigslist for $20 or free.... am totally serious
  23. Looks great, I am a sucker for aztec gold FM's... (the one that got away for me is a 94 AG FM) they made these with AA tops, so it can be a challenge to find one with a top that pops . the nut? wouldn't sweat it too much... am guessing someone could have monkeyed with the original slots (heavy guage strings?).
  24. here's my question... If I bought the les paul mahogany for $1150 at sam, and MF can now meet that plus give a $100 price match credit, can I now go back to sam and have them review that? UPDATE: called Sam Ash and politely explained the 150% price match deal with musician's friend (which expires tonight I hear), even tho they explained they were at cost, they elevated it to their manager and they took care of me... very happy, arrives tuesday. the fact that it's in transit already might have helped. NOW I'M GONNA CALL BACK MUSICIAN'S FRIEND AND HAVE THEM BEAT THAT DEAL!!! kidding, I'm friggin done
  25. Thanks for the click, enjoy the midtown, loving these usa built guitars at 1993 prices!!
