  1. Must remind myself that I hate singlecut guitars. -Austin
  2. Awesome!
  3. A clarification. I'm not looking to sell the Studio at this point, but if someone has a guitar with the specs I'm looking for and they don't want to do a trade, I might be interested in buying theirs. If not I'll just hang with the '08 until "the next one" comes along. -Austin
  4. I don't really need 2 Studio Customs, but I'm thinking I'd like to have another guitar with minihumbuckers, so I'd like to maybe trade my '08 for some sort of Studio Custom with full binding (including headstock) and P90's so I can retrofit some minis. Ebony fretboard and garish figured maple top would be a bonus, but I've never seen one, so a "regular" Studio Custom P90 would be cool. I might also be interested in the "right" Eclipse. Anyway, here's a pic of '08: It's stock and in excellent condition. If you're looking to do an outright sale, I might be interested as well. So whatchoo guys got? -Austin
  5. The Earthen Studios had different chambering than regular chambered Studios. I believe chambered Studios look like the Artist on the left. Someone who actually cared (I don't really) could ask Jol about it. -Austin
  6. I always thought that a Chambered Studio was exactly like an Artist just with no f-hole. I've had a couple of them and they definitely sound different than Studios, but less "open" than Artists and Newports (IIRC; I only had the Newport for a couple weeks ). Somebody get out an x-ray machine! -Austin
  7. Purty! And Welcome! -Austin
  8. RIP. He's gone, but he'll never be forgotten. -Austin
  9. The Les Trem is quite a bit different. It only retrofits on TOM setups and because it replaces the tailpiece, you still have to deal with friction from the saddles. The Schaller unit has roller saddles so that's not an issue (the Stetsbar avoids the issue entirely by moving the entire bridge assembly as opposed to just the strings). Unfortunately, I don't believe the Schaller LP Trem is readily available in the US and it would be insanely expensive to purchase from an overseas retailer. I haven't really tried all that hard to find on yet though, so I can't say for sure. -Austin
  10. I had one on a Hamer. It worked as advertised; however, I think the unit I would go for nowadays is the Schaller LP trem as seen in the video below and on Flaxwood guitars: It is also a non-invasive retrofit, works for wraparounds and TOM setups and looks better to me. -Austin
  11. Umm, WTF?!? -Austin
  12. well, it would have to be a trem, so I'm going to go with the Gotoh 510TS-FE1. Plenty of range and sooo smooth. I also loved the trem bridge on the non-refined Flys I had (with the tension wheel going through the body). They were comfortable and it was very easy to switch between the 3 modes. That was a while back though, so I'm not sure how much I'd like them nowadays. Although I will be finding out shortly.... MWAH HA HA HA HA HA -Austin
  13. How does one measure the dryness of wood? -Austin
  14. Funny video, but seriously, what would "the right thing" be? Aren't airlines pretty clear about not being responsible for luggage? Maybe dude should have protected his guitar better! -Austin
  15. I would have put in a , but that wouldn't have been nearly as funny. -Austin
  16. Mods, can we move this post to the Ask the HFC Experts section? -Austin
  17. The entire Freedy Johnston album "This Perfect World", especially the brilliant title song. -Austin
  18. Let's not get crazy here. Nothing's uglier than a Phantom -austin
  19. Mods, can I get my classifcation changed from "Veteran HFCer" to this? -Austin
  20. I'm going to have to go with the resident artist on this one, but he's not the one who's gonna be looking at it everyday, so... -Austin
