Any opinion on the bottom feeder bluray players? Like the Panasonic BD605 vs. the Sony s360 I'm leaning tward the Panasonic because I had a GREAT experience with the warranty/service group on my 42" 1080p plasma (which I love). and the Viera link might be usefull. I have a super low tec sound set up at the moment (old skool bang&olufson reciever into a Phase-tech sat/sub speakers, just feeding from the plasma outs. Don't laugh, I can get it rumblin' pretty good in my tiny house!) so, zoomy surround sound is not a priority. Mostly interested in which would look best on the plasma and which might up-convert the best since we have a bunch of non BR dvds. Thanks! Mark.

RIP... I have a LesPaul 78 in one of my jukeboxes that I'll be playing a few times today in memory. He lived a full life and gave us a lot. Thanks Les.

A 1977 Sunburst that I got used in 78... then traded away about a year later That's the way it was back then, I had 2 guitars and always had to trade in one to get another. No picture, just great memories. Mark.

I love those electrosocket jack cups, the whole point of those is (besides being WAY more secure) is to guide the plug cleanly into the jack and for that reason the jack sits deep in the electrosocket. Works great for quick guitar changes. But for you 90' guys, you can remove the 2 screws and pull it out. Sometimes there is a nut or washer that you can remove so a little more of the jack sticks out which will allow the 90' plug to fit. You can't go too far outward however or you will block the mounting screws.

Came from a local musician I've known for years, but I didn't know he had THIS thing. He got it from Jol back around 81ish "along with some specials that they had lying around" LOL! He played in some local opening bands and sat in with touring acts and did some "house band" stuff when they came through town back in the day. So it was probably good PR for Hamer at the time. Mark.

The flat switch turns on the preamp and the little led blinks, the other switch is a 3way (passive, mild mid-low boost, full boost) that plus the tone control really give it a lot of different tone combos.

Picked up this tasty 1980 short scale 4 stringer a couple weeks ago... 0343, Solid maple body, 1pc mahogany neck, bitchin' fork headstock, rear-load E string. Actually sounds pretty huge for a shorty. Sure don't see many like this...Enjoy. Mark

I just caught the last bit after McCartney, I found the sound was sooo bad it was distracting. Way too much "room noise" and some wierd almost chorus effect on most of the vocals, some of it sounded lip sync-ish. It was hard to watch, I kept turning my head to try and hear the tv better. But on the bright side, thank goodness I missed coldplay...I just don't get it... Mark.

New Year's Guitar Appropriation Fantasy

Hmmm, I'm having a little trouble with the "1" rule Let me see... 1 at Stonge's house, 1 at Hamerica's house, 1 at Bmenary's house, 3 (at least) at Hamstd's house, I'm leaving out the details to spare the heart-ache, besides, at this very moment I am "willing" them into packing boxes using the power of my mind..... Mark. -
Sure it did..."Mick's guitar rig goes down to 30HZ" Cool article, my ears were ringing just thinking about it. Mark.

I agree the the 76-78 50watt masters are great. another little difference is the caps changed to little square-ish "lego caps" in early 78 I think. imo the 76/77 are the ones to get. put in a nice vintage 12ax7 in the first position and you are good to go, no pedal needed to hit old-school Priest/UFO/AC-DC/Purple tone especially with a bucker. But they DO vary and some can be a little thiner sounding. Find a sweet/thick one and pay a few more bucks if you have to. The 77 I sold to Barry (bmenary) was just KILLER with the matching 4x12. It was running el34's and a very special amperex 12ax7. Most of the Marshall geeks prefer the non-masters (4 hole) but those are just way too loud before they hit the sweet spot. If you play outdoor festivals, plexi's and 4 plugers are great. but for me the the Masters have always been the tone I was looking for. Mark.

Living Colour CD eBay: $1025.00!!!!!

Plus the douchetastic preachyness of "Open letter to a Landlord" You can tear a building down, but you can't erase a memory.... On the other hand, Reid's tone was sweet! -Austin I actually really liked (and still like) that album. I saw them 3 or 4 times as they came through Chicago back in the day. I remember the Bass and drums where soooooo hooked up live, and Vernon was a show all by himself. His solos make more sense while you watch him tumbling around the stage. I dug the times when he would produce this wall of "texture" playing full blast, flying around and then just hooked a tasty riff right back into the tune. Like a highwire act. Lots of fun, and fresh at the time. Mark. -
Man, that's cool....What a great score!

Enjoy the day!

Here's my fav way to use the Volume/Volume on Sunbursts and Standards... 1) Put the pickup selector in the center position. 2) While plucking a note, back off the neck pickup volume just untill you hear a change in tone. 3) You now have a great, thick, throaty tone. And a snap of the switch to the bridge pickup cuts through for more impact. Tone knob?? Sometimes I turn it to see if it works  and then back to 10 it goes. MArk
