I have to respectfully disagree...Kim Thayil from Soundgarden using the S100 Polara back in the 90's was popular enough by himself to prompt Guild to reissue this guitar. Otherwise though, that is all I can think of. A shame for some really fantastic guitars.

I'd guess alnico, but I really have no idea. I do not think I've seen a SD P90, or many P90s in general with a ceramic magnet.

My dad playing "Sweetheart of the Rodeo" by the Byrds constantly when I was a kid forever ingrained the B-Bender sound in my consciousness!

I'm with JohnnyB...I'm using a few pedals into a class A tube amp with 5 knobs, and a 2x12 cab and have never been happier with my sound

+1...I wish someone would try this cryogenics stuff on a smoother-feeling nickel plated string...after using dean markleys for years and years I started using other stuff this year and felt like I'd been playing hacksaw blades on my guitars...

Lava cable is the bee's knees...I've had 4 or 5 for about 3 years now, some of which have been on every tour I've done and I've had no problems with them at all. He's really expanded his line since I got mine-back then you could only get Canare or George L's cable. Really really good stuff and based right here in North Carolina.

I'm not trying to stir the pot or start an argument, I wholeheartedly agree that cables are a super important part of any musician's sound and that you get what you pay for-a cheap cable is gonna sound like a cheap cable, especially through good equipment. I just got a class A, 20-watt handwired amp and the difference you hear between something like two different cables (even when compared to my mesa/boogie) is astounding. I just think that people can trick themselves into thinking that they should get a $150 cable versus a $50 when the difference might not be so great, and the cost of making the thing in the first place is substantially lower. I guess this is true of any industry though.

mogami makes great stuff, and is industry standard for studio cabling. however I kind of disagree with their pricing (along with every other cable manufacturer really), $150 for one of their new "platinum" series cables that costs them about $9 to make is extortion to me.

big steve, I think that was a Schecter... ..it doesn't really look too different from what Gibson is trying to do here.

how does the neck joint in these differ from the modern sg standard/special style neck joint? not the kind that the vos and 61 reissues have, but the newer one that joins around the 19th fret...

these combos are great...check out the subway rocket too if you can find one

a couple of years ago I wanted to start a boston tribute band, complete with 5 guitar players to replicate all the different guitar parts, and with everyone doing backing vocals to match the harmonies...i had a hard time finding people who could/would do it...
