  1. The Teles all have a strange "wear" mark. It's on the upper bass bout and looks like somebody was continuously trying to flip a 3-way switch that wasn't there. I have no opinion about the whole relic thing. It is just another finish option IMO.
  2. I have done this too. It worked perfectly for me.
  3. Damn, I'm now gigging that night.
  4. So far, it looks good to me.
  5. We have one more gig this month, 3 next month and only 1 per month from then on. We'll get more but nothing like it used to be.
  6. Cry...definitely cry.
  7. It's like a performance review at work - they never say everything is perfect, there always has to be room for improvement. It is certainly a positive review.
  8. Cool Disposition will be at the Half Time Rec on Front Ave. a couple blocks east of Lexington on Saturday from 9:30 - 1:30. My CruiseBass will be the only Hamer there.
  9. I'm very sorry to hear it, my deepest sympathy to you and your family.
  10. While he's not my cup of tea, I'm happy to see a young guy playing music that isn't Dave Matthews-style stuff or hip-hop. I think he's an okay player but he's certainly no guitar hero.
  11. The crack in the headstock doesn't effect stability.
  12. Cool Disposition will be at the Junction (formerly Whiskey Junction) on the West Bank on Friday from 9:30 - 1:30 and we'll be at the Schooner in S. Minneapolis (next to Rainbow Foods on E. Lake St.) on Saturday from 9:00 - 1:00.
  13. Thanks for the prayers and positive vibes. She has done very well and will be going home today! Thankfully, I was able to talk to her and either her doctor or nurse every day so that I got good, reliable information as to her progress. Thanks again, everybody.
  14. My mother has been in the hospital since last Friday (hence my absence at the 4321 get together) and is in need of some divine assistance. She is 84 and has been having serious heart problems...her heart rate has reached 160 on a couple of occasions and they have been unable to completely stabilize her. She is alert and coherent...she knows exactly what is happening and I speak to her and her doctor and nurses daily to monitor her progress. I would appreciate any prayers and I know she would, too. Thanks, Greg
  15. I hope it was a happy one! I'm 2 days late and more than a dollar short.
  16. I bought Spectrum on LP when it first came out in the mid-'70s. My primary interest was in Cobham because I was also an active drummer. But Bolin's playing shifted my attention to the fabulous guitar work. Bolin ripped so convincingly on Spectrum that I heard a rumor that Billy's old colleague McLaughlin had sat in uncredited. Anyone (such as yourself and Pesocaster) who knew Tommy knows that Tommy did it himself. He was that good. That is one of the best albums ever made. I wore out 3 vinyl LP's of it!
  17. Flamey green goodness for sure!
  18. Just thought I'd pass this along. http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.php?t=333392
  19. For me it would be Stevie Ray Vaughan or AC/DC.
  20. My guitar player is an avid amp builder. He uses Weber kits and has built many; they are all he plays at our gigs and he has built them for other local musicians including our harp player. If you have specific questions, send me a PM and I'll ask him. Not surprisingly, he can talk for hours about this topic.
  21. Cool Disposition will be at Floyd's in Victoria next Friday, 4/22 from 8:30 - 12:30 and on Saturday the 28th, we'll be at the Half Time Rec on Front Ave. St. Paul from 9:00 (or whenever their soundguy feels like firing up the PA) until 1:00. This is kind of an interesting gig...everything from besotted barflies to college kids to swing dance aficionados to barhopping limos...but always fun!
  22. Happy B-day...I'll hoist a few in your honor. Of course, it doesn't take much for me to hoist a few!
